Vicitimised because of his reputation by another spineless anfield ref.

Straight red you dullard. Jesus Christ would've been sent off for that, never mind Joey Barton.

EDIT: Unless you were being ironic.

I saw him win the ball and momentum take him through the player. not even a foul in my eyes. Stick to rugby with shoulder pads.

I think it was deserving of a red but I bet if Gerrard had done it he'd still be on the pitch.

Referee definately reacted to the crowd. Any other player and it was a yellow card, and if it was a Liverpool player, without the crowd reaction, not a foul at all.

+1

He got some of the ball, the media will jizz over this.

Roll on next week, and suddenly the Kop end have woken up.

Wow Barton. Wish we could just sack him tonight. Don't bother showing up anymore mate.

Aye, lets replace quality with try-hards, it's served us well up to now.

He'll be suspended though... his "quality" is useless to us now.

Meh. Nothing to get too upset about today really.

This game was always down as a LOSS. Biggest game for this club this week is the Hull v Villa match, not this trip to Anfield.

Here's the 'quality' from Barton:

'Toxic atmosphere' jibes in December 2007.

McDonald's assault.

Six months jail time.

Six-game ban with another six now likely to follow.

Quarrel with Agbonlahor.

Bollocking Enrique at Blackburn for no discernible reason.

Another injury and now a season-ending red after injuring Alonso.

33 appearances, 3 assists, 2 goals, 5.8 million. I'm sure I don't have to mention that he has made fewer appearances and contributed considerably less than Viduka who is regularly bemoaned as a fat lazy Aussie.

Thanks Fat Sam for burdening us with this animal.

I can't say I'm hurting too much today, I was expecting 6 or 7.

Yeah exactly. Obviously could have been better but ultimately damage has been limitationed! We still have the best goal difference of the bottom 4.

Will be devastating if Hull pick anything up tomorrow.

If it wasn't for the woodwork it would have been.

We just have to hope results go our way.
