And One Day. Ugh, don’t get me started on that barrel of shite.

The wife read the book years ago and loved it. I found the two protagonists terribly written. He was a walking cliche. She, a charmless dullard. I almost let out a cheer at  the horribly signposted tragedy in the penultimate episode while the wife wept.

So formulaic, so boring. Can’t believe I wasted two weeks on it. Classic compromise TV. The sort of thing you end up watching when you chose the last thing to watch together.

I didn't enjoy the first couple of episodes but thought it improved one hell of a lot towards the end. Didn't feel formulaic to me either. Dunno, just felt quite real, captured the zeitgeist quite well, which was why it was impactful.

The Bear I mainly agree with you, was a hard watch but clearly quality. Everything set in Chicago comes across as dark and gritty, would hate to live there. Except for Ferris Buellers day off maybe.

There's so few shows where the Venn diagram of our interests overlap, that we end up watching the American Office, or some sports documentaries. Like, there's no way she'd watch Shogun or Game of Thrones, but we are watching Masters of the Air. Even then, I've tried to convince her to watch Band of Brothers which is much better, but she doesn't seem keen at all.

Is Dune just for space-dweebs and mega nerds or can normal people enjoy it too?

Someone put American Pie on tonight. I never realised how shit it was

i think it’s pretty dated now but was very in tune with pop culture at the time.

Edit: just checked and it was made in 1999. I though it was later than that.

Nasa have just announced the discovery of the oldest, most distant galaxy yet.

It was found by gravity lensing around Victoria Coren’s tits on Only Connect tonight.

MF so titstruck that he’s managed to ignore what a pain in the arse she is

I quite like her but when she’s  presenting on that show the lines she delivers are so forced it’s painful to watch a lot of the time

Which is of course MF's excuse. 🙂

The Gentlemen on Netflix was surprisingly decent. 7/10

The Old Man. 6/10

Shogun (episode 5 out today, not yet watched) 8/10 so far. Would have been a higher rating if it wasnt for Cosmo Jarvis' silly accent.
