Happy Face 27
Further to the earlier reports that United had made all of their players available for transfer, The Times has now added the following: Newcastle officials have distributed a definitive list of individuals they would prefer to move on at the earliest opportunity, in the hope that a core of the club’s best players can be retained for the Coca-Cola Championship campaign. Managers at home and abroad have been told that a number of Newcastle players with considerable first-team experience are available for transfer with immediate effect. The sale of Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Jonás Gutiérrez, Gérémi, José Enrique, Fabricio Coloccini, Obafemi Martins, Shola Ameobi and Xisco is seen as a priority. We'd like to pass on our best wishes to whoever has the task of trying to get money in for that lot - let's hope that they succeed....and if you want to make it a full ten with Alan Smith, then you have our blessing. Values instantly halved (low as they were already).
Happy Face 27
Funny that we need to lower the wage bill...but all but 2 of those are Ashley players.
Kid Dynamite 1,220
Not sure why we are so desperate to get rid of Enrique? Or so desperate to hold onto Duff and Butt for that matter?

Values instantly halved (low as they were already). A spokesperson for ATP has distributed a definitive list of individuals he would prefer to move on at the earliest opportunity, in the hope that Newcastle United can continue to exist as we know it. The fucking off of Michael Ashley and Derek Llambias is seen as a priority. But seriously, we just bought Nolan in January, Enrique is one of our "core of the club's best players", Geremi won't even raise fifty cent, Coloccini was our 'wow' signing, and Ameobi just got a new 99-year contract. Brilliant stuff Mike. It'd be comedy, if it weren't tragedy.
Ugly Mackems 51
It can only be about getting wages out. I doubt they'd raise more than £10/15m between them in reality.
David Kelly 439
Enrique is one of our best players and one who I can see doing very well in the future. But the rest of them is to be expected and in most cases hoped tbf. Still hardly the way to go about things if we want to have any hope of doing well next season or getting decent money in for them. Still no idea why we bought Nolan, a giant traffic cone would have been cheaper and nearly as effective.
ewerk 6,495
The only reason I can think as to why Duff isn't on there is because he's offered to take a pay cut?
Happy Face 27
An update on our current squad - numbers in brackets refer to the age a player will be on the first day of next season - the other number is the expiry date of their current NUFC playing contract. Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (21) 2010 Stephen Harper (34) 2012 Tim Krul (21) 2011 Ole Soderberg (19) 2012 (NB: a new five year deal was in the offing for Fraser Forster in May, but there's been no official word from the club that this was signed). Defenders: Sebastien Bassong (23) 2011 Habib Beye (31) 2010 Fabricio Coloccini (27) 2013 Jose Enrique (23) 2012 Brad Inman (17) 2011 Tamas Kadar (19) 2012 Darren Lough (19) 2010 Callum Morris (19) 2010 Ryan Taylor (24) 2013 Steven Taylor (23) 2011 Ben Tozer (19) 2012 Midfielders: Joey Barton (26) 2012 Nicky Butt (34) 2010 Ryan Donaldson (18) 20?? Damien Duff (30) 2011 Geremi (30) 2010 Jonny Godsmark (19) 2010 Jonas Gutierrez (26)2013 Danny Guthrie (22) 2012 Kevin Nolan (27) 2013 Alan Smith (28) 2012 (NB: It's claimed that Northern Ireland youngster Shane Ferguson has agreed a three year pro deal, but this is yet to be confirmed by the club). Strikers: Shola Ameobi (27) 2012 Wesley Ngo Baheng (19) 20?? Andrew Carroll (20) 2013 Frank Danquah (19) 2011 Kazenga LuaLua (18) 20?? Obafemi Martins (24) 2011 Nile Ranger (18) 2012 Xisco (23) 2013 Fabio Zamblera (19) 2012 Out of contract this month: Cacapa (33) 2009 David Edgar (22) 2009 Peter Lovenkrands (29) 2009 Michael Owen (29) 2009 Mark Viduka (33) 2009 Don't we have very few players between 25 and 30 (ie, in their prime)? Virtually the whole squad is wet behind the ears or over the hill. The ones we do have are generally crocks and criminals too.

Smith, Nolan and Ameobi had their prime years ago. In fact Ameobi may have had a prime bypass as a youngster.
Craig 24
At least ameobi is on the list. Things are looking up. He wouldn't have needed to be if we hadn't chucked a new contract at him in January. That's where money has been pissed down the drain tbh.

NJS 794
Why on earth is Smith not on that list? Wild guess but maybe they've been sounded out about their level of committment to playing in the league and Smith was up for it - that would explain Butt/Duff as well. Or they just forgot him. Or in Shola's case stand around for a while, walk, trip over, stand around a bit longer, foul the receptionist, walk a bit, shout at the security guard, and get escorted from the building for causing an obstruction. TicTacWoe 0
Not happy to see Enrique or Martins on the list but they probably want out (despite what may have been said about Martins recently wanting to stay), but it does boil my blood to see no Smith on the list. Has done precisely fuck all since joining and is on 40k plus, what reason could we possibly have for keeping him?
