The badge hails from the early 60's when they first made it to the 1st division, and when Jimmy Hill was their manager. They don't half plug it during home games, but then they are skint. It's been as it is for 23 years now - not many have had the same crest for that length of time. Why did we have to change it in the first place. To the best of my knowledge, we've had 4 crests. 1) It was so long ago, that I can't remember it, but I've seen it in old sports books. It bears a very small resemblence to the one we've got now, but I hasten to add, very small. 2. The circle with a picture of a magpie, and I think the castle keep is in the background??? 3. The NUFC one, where the c is lying under the other 3 letters, and there's a very small magpie under the c. 4. The one we've got now. I repeat, why have changes been made? It's a money making exercise which will suit Ashley right down to the ground. Version 1 that Nick the Pole is on about is actually the city crest - or at least a variation of it. Just had a look at the list of Premiership clubs and at least Arsenal, Villa, Blackpool, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Man United (they dropped 'Football Club' from theirs), Sunderland, Spurs & Wigan have all had theirs altered since we had ours changed.
