I seem to remember Tranmere had a long throw 'specialist' back in the day and as Prenton Park was so cramped he'd run down the steps of the main stand when the throw in was vaguely level with the gangways.

Anyway absolutely delighted at our attitude towards the towels. If you're going to try and reduce the game to a catapult contest expect people who care about football to do anything within their power to fuck you over.

He played against us (and did that) when we played them in the cup. Was it the 1/4 final when Robson was manager?

Dave Challinor? (sp)

Can't remember his name but you might be onto something with Challinor.

Aye, I think you might be right with the Robson quarter final Alex. I was trying to recall how far back it was going but I was thinking it had to be about 10 years at least. Used to see him do it quite frequently on the North West regional footy highlights show too, the bamp.

And the best bit is, Raylor can throw it further than Delap, yet he is also a footballer and doesn't need 15 minutes with a towel beforehand.

In fairness to many Stoke fans, on their forum they do point out that delap would not be playing for them if couldn't throw a ball from one end of the pitch to the other. I think a good few would prefer a change of tactics.

I'm sure we definitely did it too. There was one section where there was a gap, and I remember being particularly outraged because Delap didn't take the throw where the ball went out and they ended up scoring.

I could have dreamt that I suppose but it seems so clear to me.
