There are literally thousands of message boards out there, covering every age, every viewpoint you could think of. It's just the modern age. People sit in the house and chat on the internet, instead of going out and socialising with friends etc in real life. Including kids, who seem to think conversing on FB is "socialising with friends". Things have changed, not necessarily for the best all the time. Technology is great and the internet is too, but it shouldn't take over your life. Everything is fine in moderation. I don't feel I've reached the point where it's sad yet, but it's coming. Like yesterday my boss who's nearly 50 just out of the blue mentioned that he was posting on his team's board, and my immediate reaction was "at your age? You sad bastard." This is gonna look like a dig at Leazes and it genuinely isn't cos in reality age is irrelevant to posting on a forum, so I'm really not having a dig here . It's just my weird view of things that it's been ok for me in my 20s/30s up to now, but eventually I need to grow out of this. This is right and there are reasons for it in my view. Take me, I would like think most people who know me think I'm alright. Can be a bit of a argumentative wank in life and on here, and my lass will tell you I'm ridiculously childish for my age. However, the one thing I acknowledge about myself still in my early 30's, is how condescending I can be, I'm right and that's it, and most other people are clueless. The older I get the more I'm right, and the more people who disagree with me are wrong. When I'm LM or Toonpacks age I'll be unbearable, I agree there has to be a shelf life for this sort of thing. Its funny how each age band thinks another age band is old..... until they get there This forum IMO self destructed in recent years with all the bitchiness however there are signs it could bounce back when the football season kicks off. I now spend my time on two home brew forums and it's quite refreshing having similar banter on here without the bitchiness or in house arguments that fester. It'd be funny to see where everyone ends up and if the forum is still busy with the regulars. Rob will be a brain in a jar and studied by med students from all over the world, Leazes will be in his 100s and still referring to 'people like Toonpack', MF will be in a nursing home being sponge-bathed by large-chested nurses, Fish will still be lusting after Cath, who will be a great granny of a few generations of toon footballers whilst I'll be one massive beard and still listening to Bowling for Soup and getting defensive about it. Alex too will have created 100s of usernames until he simply creates an account, posts "" then moves on to a new one. Meenz will have represented the UK in the qualifying rounds of Eurovision too, but sadly won't be voted in as he'll be beaten by KSA and his song 'The FACTS', who by now has appeared on his 37th season of Mock the Week. CT will be running his own Heston Blumenthal-esque brewery, rambling on about his latest invention; beans on toast flavoured beer. Look to the future. The older I get the less I know I know. I look back at the certainty of posts I made when I was 25 and cringe. That's what I like about this place. It constantly has me trying to see the other side and learning stuff. I'm sure in another 5 or ten years I'd look back at the posts I make now and cringe. I know there's people on here who see it the opposite way though. As an exercise in putting other people right. Nae offence but you come across like that (as do many others), and you seem to agree in your post there. The only opinion it's worthwhile to change on an internet forum is your own. I think you may be right (don't get fucking cocky about it though ) and that is an important observation in the internet age. The amount of times I've seen anyone back down or concede something (probably once or twice) on the internet suggests people don't think of this as a forum for true debate.
