Oh so nothing lives up to your high idealism. That’s fucking life. I understand supporting the next best thing but if he’s the closest thing in politics you can identify with then you’re in trouble.

And anti-semiticism is the same whether it results in violence or not. Labour appear to have a problem with it, though that’s far from saying it prevalent. But Corbyn’s staunch anti-Israel views don’t help the accusation of anti-semiticism.

See the next post. I woulda stuck with Nu-Labour if they'd just opposed the insanity of Austerity.

The scale of the problem anti-semitism represents, changes radically when you consider whether or not there is violence. The far right have anti-Jew rallies in the US - this is a problem. Have we had anything approximating any such thing over here? It's insane that this is getting the coverage that it is. We have a bigger problem with Islamophobia on the right ffs.

Wow. So rather than hoping for a tilt to the centre you just go all the way left.

When the whole thing fell apart, the only sides paying attention to anyone outside of the politician/media bubble were the moderate left (Corbyn) and the moderate to far right (Farage). I chose Mod-left. As I've said before, I would welcome a return to a reformed centre.

And Labour does have a minor problem with anti-semitism and Corbyn doesn’t help. Discuss that.

Should be tackled with coverage proportionate to the size of the problem.

When the leadership is offering no opposition then you expect the media to go to town.

If Corbyn wants to demonstrate he’s taking the antisemitism problem in his own party, and particularly in momentum, why leave the debate early? Yet another own goal. Some pretty shocking revelations from John Mann on the scale of the problem. Dead birds through the door and rape threats ffs

Yeah, you would think more at the government (as with what the media in the US have done) rather than the opposition.

I don't have the energy to debate this utterly depressing charade anymore. If you're satisfied with the bollocks you're being fed, more power to you.

Yep, sounds bad. Should be sorted out. I don't know what Corbyn is doing with this, I'm really not paying attention anymore. I'm was just making a point about proportionate coverage. Tbh, maybe it's a bigger deal on here than the news?

Stop apologising man. I like it when you're riled. Apologise for your apologies!

Tbf I agree the antisemitism stuff has been blown out of all proportion and is a smokescreen to mask the rancid turd that is the Tory party. It's worked as well.

Maybe, I'll be honest and say I haven't followed it closely. It isn't that long since Miliband was leader though, have things gotten that bad in 3 years?

From where I'm sitting the whole of politics is a big problem now. Toxic incompetence pervades Westminster like never before.

Yes and I think it ties in perfectly with the rise of momentum. That movement has corralled a lot of young people and a section of them are clearly anti-Semite and are making the voices heard.

This has lead to a surge of online abuse of mainly Labour MP’s which in turn has brought the spotlight on Corbyn and his “looser” associations.

He’s been very slow to act on it over the last 2 years which is why we are where we are.

 You're getting easier to rile these days ;)

There is a problem with anti-semitism within Labour, Corbyn doesn't appear to be helping the situation. The coverage isn't disproportionate among the MSM, yesterday's debate made the front pages of two out of the ten main papers.

Corbyn needed to get out in front of this and devise a plan before this became such a big issue but he hasn't. Not because he's anti-semitic but because he isn't a very good leader.

Anyone heard much lately about that Tory MP who shared an anti-Islam post last month? Probably not. That's disproportionate coverage, the attention that Labour has gotten is about right.

He shared an article on Facebook about Somali sex trafficking of children (A cause he campaigns against), and it was the use of the word muslin in the title which was the problem.

He apologised straight away and deleted it. Personally I think it’s on a totally different scale to the anti-Semitic problem.

He shared a link to a website that promotes Islamophobic stories. At worst he's a bigot, at best he should have taken much more care in what he does online.

But then again he also apologised after retweeting Tommy Robinson, another innocent mistake I'm sure.

It’s more of a problem among the socialist worker types, the driving force behind momentum, who are setting the Labour Party agenda now.

I have no issue with criticism of the state of Israel but too often on the radical left, the lines are blurred between justified criticism of a state and hatred of a group of people.

You could argue the media coverage of this if disproportionate, as a lot of the Corbyn criticism is, bit ffs he doesn’t do himself any favours. For example, why can’t he just come and and say Hamas and Hezbollah aren’t his friends ffs? Stubborn wanker - it’s the same as his IRA comments. “I denounce all terrorism.” Just answer the question!

I don’t for a second believe Corbyn is an antisemite. He’s just a PR nightmare.

I don’t really know this bloke but would probably put him in the same “careless” bracket as Corbyn being part of some anti-Semite Facebook groups.
