Still think they’re unlucky only to have 4 down. Could’ve easily been more. The ball is just moving enough

there’s another one. Head could have easily chopped onto his stumps there

One or two more before close and it’s England’s day, which is a bizarre thing to conclude after posting 172. Aussies still have a sniff of stabilising the innings as long as Carey is in

Superb bowling/captaincy, brought long off/on both in and narrow meaning Green'd have to go in to out to drive so ever so slightly across the line and "bingo" excellent stuff

This attack is class and has the pace to exploit the Aussie conditions for once. Hunting in packs. No respite for the convicts. Every bowler applying the pressure

You don't fucking bat first in the first session of the Ashes, irrespective of "convention" when winning the toss.

It's so emotionslly charged an early wicket (or seven) just supercharges the opposition. You can recover from a ropey bowling start but a batting disaster and you're fucked.

Crass stupidity.

On the evidence seen today, disagree

Not sure I've witnessed a more significant bowling pitch for quite some time mind you.

We need to nip this partnership in the bud tbh. Carey scoring at a steady rate

Disagree all you want, you're wrong.

Pitch is fine, it's the accuracy and pace that's causing the bother and some loose shots that the accuracy/pace is inducing.

Right, getJoffra on to break Lyon's fingers.

Every test match on this ground has been won by the team batting first so you can see why stokes went against his natural instinct to chase

Only been 5 previous tests though and the home team batted first in four of them. So you can’t read too much into it

when India won here last year the pitch  flattened out in the third innings so he probably had one eye on that
