Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

This one was PSR but for the cycle ending in 2022. They've got another breach for the cycle ending in 2023 but the hearing for that isn't until April.

They might well get away with just a 6 point deduction for this season given how fucking slow the PL seem to take to do everything.

The fact it's taken until the end of Feb 2024 to fully resolve a 2022 breach is ridiculous. They've gained the advantage already by twice surviving relegation when they shouldn't have.

And then these idiots reduce the penalty. A breach is a breach surely.

How did they decide on 10 points anyway?  By waving a magic finger in the air?

Surely they have a set of rules. eg If you breach FFP by a penny then its 10 points, for every £1m you go over that its another point. etc

They are that incompetent they most likely never actually planned for anyone breaching it. They created a rod for their back with the 10 points which is probably why they've walked back on it with the Man City case looming. If Everton ended up with another 6 then they can't really complain now though, and it would be fucking hilarious if they were five points clear of the drop and they decide to whack it on this season

It'll be interesting to see if Everton finish safe by less than 4 points, and whether Luton etc launch a complaint - The amount of teams Everton have fucked over with all of this is only getting larger.

The 10 point is the prescribed amount for a breach is my understanding. Which they've now rolled back in by reducing it.

How much were they over?

Surely the FA have to set guidelines for this.

Expand

They’ll come up with bollocks about treating each case on its particular set of circumstances. They didn’t even have a set deadline for how long it takes them to decide whether or not to approve a takeover. They won’t want to paint themselves into a corner where it might cost a team the title in the future

£19mil over 3 seasons. Everton argued it was £7.9mil.

Apparently they hoped to sell Richarlison for £60mil to break even but only got £40mil on the books.

There was a formula discussed to come up with the points deduction but it got scrapped apparently

"The Premier League has no such published guidelines, but its chief executive Richard Masters told the panel, in his witness testimony, that the league came up with a sanctions policy at the start of this season that uses a starting position of minus six points, with an additional point docked for every £5million over the limit."

Looks like Villa need to sell some players by the end of June to meet PSR and have extended their accounting period by a month so those sales can be captured in their accounts.

Does it say how much they are over? Surely it's just a case of selling one of their main players really like Ramsay or Watkins - I couldn't imagine they are miles over the threshold.

Cunts should have sold us Ramsay when we asked for him

Nah I guess no one will know atm cos the extent of the issue will be hidden in their unpublished accounts for the current financial year.

Be a bit of a blow for them if they need to sell Watkins mind. I'd have him here.

Chelsea seem in dreadful PSR / FSR shape. They've got until the end of June to pull a rabbit out of the hat, or they might have to do what Villa are doing and give themselves a further month.

He has links with Saudi Pro League. Expect to see 40 year old Thiago Silva go for £30m in the summer.

With this, Everton, Forest, and Villa I don't know which side of this I'm falling on; Are the FFP/PSR rules finally holding reckless spending to account or, Are ambitious clubs having their growth limited?
