A lot of businesses like ours did "lockdown" earlier by introducing working from home a couple of weeks before the cunts got their act together.

(Again grateful it was possible  to WFH).

Yea, that helped.

But fuck me, looking back, Cheltenham, Liverpool - Athletico (Madrid being badly affected by then). And then finally, didn't they give advance warning that Friday 20th would be the last day of pubs being opening causing packed out pubs? Unbelievable stupidity.

I'm just reading pharmanomics and it starts off with the Covid situation. How many billionaires were made off the back of it from big Pharma and how they fucked over third world countries because they wouldn't lower their prices to help put.

What a world we live in. Cunts.

The patent in some countries in Africa are owned by certain pharma companies and they wouldn't allow it to be used until they paid x price.  Meanwhile AZ couldn't produce enough as they had already sold X to certain developed countries.

Also a lot of the companies who own the patents i.e Moderna the main one, are making billions off the back of government funded research.  I.e  Me and thee funding it and them making money off and paying fuck all back

It's basically similar to the AIDS/HIV situation.

The big pharma companies also use these situations to their advantage.  When there was a meningitis outbreak in Africa they used it to their advantage to basically do trials.  Due to the lack of controls they could,  One one side of an emergency camp you had MSF treating sick children for nowt.  On the other half Pfizer and they were trailing a new drug that hadn't passed any controls in the US.  A load had died or had big side effects on that side compared to MSF yet Pfizer put it down to the virus.

Also apparently the big phrama companies 'gift' third world countries out of date meds and medical supplies as there are loop holes in tax to help them.  One company gifted Namibia millions of breast implants that do absolutely fuck all but sit there.  Meanwhile the pharma company are getting millions in tax relief and also good PR because they will say 'Oh yeh we helped Namibia out with health supplies; and leave it at that

Well, tbf big Pharma pay my wages. :whistling:

I'd prefer that wasn't the case, but working for the NHS is shite nowadays with pay and t&cs in permanent decline. But my personal experience is the industry is it is very heavily regulated, probably moreso than any other outside aviation, and all my clients play by the rules. I have zero idea about commercialisation in developing counties admittedly, although that may change with some projects I have in the pipeline.

Haven't read the book but it might be biased as well. Ben Goldacres book Bad Pharma was a bit hyperbolic I thought. Still, he needed to sell books to make money, like everyone else. Ateod it's all capitalism.

On Friday night I was at a pub quiz, and I was sitting next to a person who's now ill and who's tested positive for covid for 2 hours. From recollection we shared pens etc.  I was feeling really ill at work yesterday with a tight chest, streaming eyes, sneezing fits. But I've tested negative and I reckon my symptoms were caused by the selfish fuckers bringing their stinking dogs into work. Also I had a booster a couple of months ago.

Anyway, it's still out there and an issue, although probably more an excuse to malinger tbh.

When I went to the Dr's last week I asked him about it.  He said its out there still but they're hardly seeing any cases in their surgery.  They're seeing a lot of stuff they haven't seen for the last 3 years they said like whooping cough etc.

I was out on Friday night and dirty bastards have gone back to normal of not washing hands etc.

It's my work Christmas do today. Last time I went out with these bellends, I came home with Covid. That was only 2 or 3 month ago so I'm hoping I'm still antibodied up.

Either that or it kicks in sharpish, and I just between now and Christmas off sick, but am better for Santa getting here.

I think it's more a case of because we're all boosted and most of us have had it now anyways that people are getting symptoms and just assuming that they have a heavy cold.

I am not even sure if the home test kits are even picking up the new variants as I've had two really bad colds in the past few months (still coming down from one now). Took several tests both times and all came back negative, but I am sure the more recent one was Covid.

I'm already looking forward to the moment that I put my coat on and leave my Christmas do today. Starts at half 12, and I'm targeting 3:30 to 4. It'll take a herculean effort from my colleagues to keep me there any longer than that. I honestly don't think they've got it in them.

If you think I'm gonna walk around the room saying bye to people, you are VERY mistaken. One or two of them might get a nod as I leave if they play their cards right. Otherwise it's gonna be full on ghosting time by the party ninja.

Are they all similar ages to you?  A lot of the lads in my office are younger.  They're a decent bunch and we all get on, but nights out they just know when I get to a certain time I am home and fuck all will stop me going.  Plus now with me hardly drinking it's even less appealing to be out when people pass a certain point of being pissed
