The outcry to this has baffled me somewhat like. I wouldn’t change it but I’ll wait to see what they fire out with before raging on. What the clubs badge looks like is way down the list of things I pay much mind to when it comes to NUFC

The most ridiculous statement I read was “I was born in 1988 and know no different, so it’s an absolute disgrace!”

Compelling argument, like

It’s changed twice that I can remember and I don’t remember being bothered either way either time….the biggest thing about our kit I remember was something that basically sort of made me go to my first game; pre season 80/81, we were chatting about kits and I said to the village Newcastle fan (something like..)

“aye Neil Bukta are fuckin shite min!”

“No we’re Umbro now ya cunt, it’s got a muckle blue star oan it, it’s fuckin ace”

“OO ya cunt that sounds mad as fuck! Whits the blue star for??”

A few months later Neil and his dad took me to my first game so I could see for myself. There’s no doubt in my mind that the first Umbro kit with the S&N blue star is the greatest kit of the early 80s ie when shirt sponsorship first started in England :good:

I remember talking to an Irish kid who swore we used to have a mad shirt with the 'no smoking' sign on it. After I stopped laughing I pointed out that it was West Bromwich Albion who had that one.

Pleased social media wasn’t around when we changed our name

The front runners were Newcastle Rangers, Newcastle City and Newcastle United, imagine (MLF klaxon!) if we'd gone for one of the other two?

ST holders and members are getting a vote 😆

Do they get a vote on a choice of badges at the end, or just an offering of views in the early stages?

I'm pretty sure they'll come up with something that's fine either way. I can't imagine being violently opposed to a badge.

There’s the survey, then off the back of that there will be 4(?) options to vote on. There will possibly be something vaguely acceptable I suppose, bottom line is it’s happening and there’s no stopping it… I gave all the options 4/10 and left the comment it should be Monty the Magpie smoking a cigar whilst having a bath in the League Cup trophy :good:

EDIT: can someone do that on AI?? 🙏🏻

Tbh the club legally cant change the badge without the supporters consent!

It’s classified as a heritage piece or whatever. The NUST have written to the club telling them that the survey was loaded and they need another.

Is this according to NUST?

Fairly certain the owners of the the club can do as they please in terms of brand identity given it’s in private hands.

Aye the survey was shite. On a scale of 0-10, how important is it for the new badge to have a castle/lion/seahorse etc.

The results will be all over the shop and I'm not sure any of the feedback is actually going to be useful in designing a new badge
