Isn’t he the one who signed a bunch of duds for Rangers leading to their fans protesting at his removal?

Sounds a perfect fit for our circus

It wasn’t the fact they were duds. It was the fact he rejected bids for star players and then didn’t bother to negotiate new contracts so they left on frees. Or so I’ve read.

Fills me with a great deal of confidence when we’re sat with an Isak situation

Paddy McGuinness plays Dracula, or Ralph Malph's great grandson. That's the pool we're fishing in.

Ralph Malph's great grandson it is. Pottsy's gonna head up the academy.

Isak has not travelled to Singapore with the rest of the squad.... Whether it's just cos of his injured thigh or not, who knows.

Lets be honest, it doesn't look good and either way we're going to struggle in the games over there without a striker.

That is a worry given that his thigh scan came back clear.

For one reason or the other we're going to need to speed up the striker recruitment.  We're either not going to have Isak or not going to have a fit Isak for the Villa game at this rate.  If we have to start Osula up front we may as well fuck PSR right off and take the 10 point deduction because we're not picking up many points at the start of the season anyway.

This is exactly the position we didn't want to be in and shouldn't have been in.  There's no getting away from it, the club management are royally fucking this up.  Plenty of time left to do what needs to be done but it's getting harder and harder to faith in them doing it.

If this is as bad as it looks, you have to worry about Howe's position as well.  His demands for early business haven't been met (whether that's through lack of effort, mismanagement or things outside our control) and we're currently going into the season without a fit striker (at best).  He can't be expected to work miracles with a squad that's weaker than the one we started last season with and has the extra workload of european football.

It does seem like we've fucked it up with both recruitment and Isak. And every little thing that happens with Isak is subject to media speculation and just adds to the hysteria.  Eales should have come out when Liverpool were up to their nonsense and say that he is categorically not for sale and any attempt to tap him or his agents up will be met with a lawsuit.

Unfortunately we appear to very much asleep at the wheel at the moment in terms of the management of the club.  Anything other than selling Adidas replica products and we're not interested.  Signings, contracts, stadiums, training grounds and sponsorships seem to be very much on the back burner.

At the womens team seem to be giving it a go.  They might get promoted so we can maybe sell them to ourselves in a few years time when we get round to it.

Weird that this is happening mind, cos @Dr Gloom was absolutely adamant that he was a great lad who just wasn't the sort to do this type of thing, and was content with just being an NUFC club legend for winning the Carabao Cup.

i genuinely didn't think he would push for a move this summer or that the club would countenance it. i always felt there was a sense of inevitability about him going next summer, particularly if we missed out on CL again. we don't yet know if this is him pushing for an improved deal or an exit this summer. i hope it's the former.

it doesn't look great either way, particularly as liverpool have already signed the lad who might have been his replacement. have they really got enough money leftover to sign isak too? and would we really let him go without a proper replacement at the start of a CL season? it would be a mike ashley move as it's hard to see who we would replace him with now. all the best CFs in europe have already moved on, time in the window is running out and every selling club would know we have an isak-sized fee to reinvest.

At this stage I feel we should just be going to Liverpool and saying "right if you want him, it's £150m and you've got a deadline of next Friday to sort a deal or it's off"

I don't think they can afford him now this summer anyway, but that needs to be brought to the surface so the player sees it and can straighten his fucking face or find another club to go to.

This whole situation has been a fucking disaster. I'm not buying it that we shouldn't have bid for Ekitike though. That's not why Liverpool came in for Isak, they were going to do that anyway.

Cos we've got a £150m asset who appears to be refusing to engage with pre season.

Us telling them to fuck off is what got us here.
