Why's he not Isak and why's he not naked?

You need a better prompt. Type "naked black man who looks like Isak' and wait for the knock on the door. 👍

Of course he's refusing to play and I'd be amazed if he said to Eddie, I'll play at the weekend and we said fuck off. They'll treat it that way until the window shuts, similarly I doubt they'll fine him (as they could) before then either.

If Isak had reported for training earlier this week and told Howe he was available to play this weekend, do you think Eddie would have selected him?

Absolutely, so long as the rest of the squad were ok with it as well.

Not a chance in the world would he had been picked. Howe values integrity way too much for that. If he selected him this weekend, he'd almost be validating Isak's conduct over the past 3-4 weeks as acceptable. There's disciplinary action to deal with first - he ain't coming straight back into the fold on his own say-so.

Isak is refusing to integrate with the squad, but conversely Howe is currently keeping him away from the squad.

I take it you don't.

No. Because doing so would effectively be saying it's OK to act like a cunt so long as you've the potential to be a match winner. It's about as far removed from the ethos our manager lives by that you can get.

It's also two fingers up to the rest of the squad who have behaved impeccably and done what is expected of them.

He'll be integrated back into the squad when Howe determines, NOT when Isak determines.

He wouldn't be validating anything - If the rest of the squad were ok with it, he'd absolutely be considered IF he showed genuine contrition and was prepared to accept any punishment the club deemed fit and also confirmed he was stopping.

It wouldn't be a case of "I fancy a game gaffer" "oh OK Alex, you're in".

We’re at the point where we’re arguing about something that didn’t happen. I wish he would just fuck off abroad now and we get £120m or whatever to spend on the squad. At least we’ll be able to whinge about the football soon

Where did I say Isak determines shit, you said if he trains and was available would he be selected. I say yes.

Because, for him to be back training and reintegrated back into the squad he would have had to have already done whatever Eddie had determined was necessary, so your point about rewarding bad behaviour is not relevant.

I don't think Howe wants him back so suspect we'll come to some agreement with Liverpool towards the end of the window. Hopefully he is so unfit he won't play until October.

I would think Howe desperately wants him back (subject to the mood of the wider squad) because it's a results business, and a team with Isak in it gives you a better chance of winning.

"Don't worry about it Alex, lad. It doesn't matter you torpedoed 4 weeks of pre-season planning, what's important is you're sorry and you won't do it again - take 2 weeks fine and let's pretend it didn't happen, OK?"

No chance - it's not the way Howe operates. If, and it's a massive IF, Isak woke up on Monday, realised the errors of his ways and showed a determined and consistent effort to fold back into line, he MIGHTY be considered for selection by say the first Champions League tie. Howe will want convincing evidence of his commitment before he does though.

You're interpreting what I said as something you want to think I said, but I didn't.

It's not the reality anyway, so feel free, chortle away.

You quite clearly said that Isak had made himself available for training on Monday, Eddie would have picked him for tomorrow. I disagreed. There's no abiguity on that

You posed a hypothetical question, if Isak was back in training would he be selected to play.

Obviously for him to be back in training something significant would have had to change and also Eddie would have to be satisfied that change crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's of what he Eddie would accept to allow him back into aforementioned training.

If THAT hypothetical situation existed and the standard was met, of course he'd be selected.
