This is it, like. Simple passes look like difficult ones to some of our lads. And don’t get me started on our set pieces. We have to be up there with the worst in Europe at attacking the fuckers. Especially considering it’s land of the giants at times

The fact we’ve got two lads over 6ft 5in and we can’t beat the first man is utterly criminal

Thiaw has been our best centre half recently, there’s no way we should be moving him out of centre half.

So Schar there? Or were you happy with Murphy giving the ball away so much and offering fuck all because he's not a RWB?

Wouldn’t have thought so. Wissa, Woltemade, a third is surely enough?

Depends what we get. We definitely need a prolific goalscorer rather than another of the Woltemade mould.

Without Aubameyang, we win tonight. His potency was the difference.

It definitely shouldn’t be Thiaw. He’s fucking immense and one of the stand out centre backs in the PL this season. Playing him at RB would be insane.

As insane as playing Burn LB or Murphy RB.

5 at the back doesn't work and this has been shown several times this season. we currently don't have a fit RB so what do we do? Play a player who's played RB before or fit a square peg again and pay the cost?

After already missing the ManCity game because fuck getting up at 3.30am to watch us get spanked, I also skipped this away game. Woke up and checked the score, it was only HT. 1-0 to us. Lovely, so I figured I'd watch the second half blind. Watched the first half on delay. Enjoyed it despite the frustrating lack of cutting edge and fact we should've been further ahead. But, hey, we're winning and only looked like going further ahead on the balance of play. Then Pope heads off to fuckin Avignon ten seconds into the second half. I could've just watched the first fifteen seconds of that fuckin bullshit and saved myself an hour.

Guess, I need to take responsibility for the lose, in other words. Luckily, Howe is backing me to start the next game from the off. Bad luck fellas. Coaches orders.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I know it’s not playing a Rolls Royce CB out of position because he’s the least worst option.

I already said in an earlier post that I thought Murphy had a bad game. Moving arguably our best player in recent games from his favoured position would make no sense.

Schar maybe able to play RB but I don’t think he has the legs to play RWB.

I’ve been his biggest supporter because he’s a great goalkeeper, but Pope let them back into the game and needs dropping. No shame, it’s a mistake but we have another goalkeeper who is at least his equal.

Dan Burn is a hero and has been great for us since he signed, but he isn’t good enough on the ball.

We also struggled without a focal point of a forward, Gordon worked hard and put the yards in but isn’t a centre forward. We need another one in January, despite Wissa coming back.

Dont think we were bad here tonight, without that first aberration we might win that game.

Not to go all CT here but I think one of the biggest things killing us atm is big Nick is just being marked out of games. We really need to be playing two strikers with the other and I think Gordon could do the job here if he stops being on his heels all the time. Push the pace forward up to their last line, so they occupy the centre backs or at least one, giving DBG more of a chance against one defender and someone for him to feed. It would mean reverting to either a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 and either a big Joe or Ramsey playing the wide LM role but having Gordon who isn't a natural striker or big Nick who is, always up against two big CBs is futile.

Pope has to be dropped after that. He’s cost us points in our last three away games. Eddie can only be loyal for so long. Ramsdsle deserves a chance.

Annoyingly, we looked okay first half but I hate how we drop off after scoring away from home. Why not go for the second goal, as we would do at home? Shit second half and we only got going long after they got their second.

We were decent value for a point. This one’s on the goalkeeper.

Eddie has to stop playing Gordon up front. It’s almost as bad as burn at left back

You’ve nailed this, mind. Once is a

blip, twice can be forgiven, 3 away games in a row and it’s reckless to carry on picking him. I haven’t forgotten his moment of madness at Parkhead in July either. Go back further and there’s that howler against Liverpool that cost him a place in the Carabao Cup Final in 2023.

It’s telling that those of us who’ve played in goal and who’ve defended him thus far are saying enough is enough. Hopefully Adam Bartlett is thinking the same.

He’s a tremendous shot-stopper, but demonstrably his decision making isn’t good enough for the level we’re at. And that’s before we consider how he is with the ball at his feet.

Seems to have got worse recently too. Is that down to the GKing coach? It's not like he's got more confident with his feet.

I think we’ve seen more of it recently but let’s be honest he’s always had it in his locker - acts before he thinks.

he's a competent shot stopper, nowt tremendous about it for me.

with the ball at his feet it's enough to give me palpitations, not occasionally, always.

his decision making is fucking appalling, punches far too often when a catch shouldn't be an issue.

should never, ever be allowed to come out his box again.

cost us at least half a dozen goals so far this season.

can see no good reason at this point either for the team or his own confidence why he should be picked for the next match.

everybody knows he cost us that game, including himself.

For me, I think it's a pressure thing. His decision making under pressure is atrocious. It seems in general that he doesn't handle pressure very well. You can see it every time the ball is at his feet. It is outright panic stations.

One positive from playing Gordon as a striker is that he reminds us that as useless as he is as a winger it could be worse.

starting to wonder if we overrated him after one really good season. He did okay last season on spells. But he’s been fucking shit this season

Third option. Howe maybe thinks Ramsdale is better but, Trafford is now a likely purchase again as it has not and will not work out for him at Manchester City. If this is the case, why upset/ unsettle Pope, when Ramsdale is likely not going to be with us at the end of the season. We could end up not getting Trafford again and we have pissed off our keeper who is actually decent, despite his errors, for two keepers who are not with us.

I know many disagree with me but Srnicek was of similar ability. Unbelievable shot-stopper but little beyond that.

We need a more complete keeper if we’re going to continue to challenge at this level.
