Before the game I’d have happily taken the draw and after the first half performance, absolutely would. But how we came out after the break, took the game to them, got the lead, hit the post twice and forced a brilliant save out of their keeper, it smarts a little to concede a late equaliser.

 

But we shouldn’t forget the enormity of the competion or the opposition. This lot won at both Man City and Dortmund in the last two weeks. 
 

10 points after 6 games is a great return as well.

Central defense though they should be rested for a whole game as it's not often a good idea to mess with your central defenders mid game.

 

Going to be a huge match for our season at home against PSV. It's huge for them as well as they would leapfrog us if they win, a draw would likely keep them in the unseeded play off spots and a loss could move them into the elimination spots. Their final game is at home against Bayern Munich who will, like PSG, have locked up their round of 16 spot so could rest players.

 

If we had won against Marseille we'd be in 4th place currently.

That's the key point for me. Qualifying for it is one thing - qualifying for it again whilst you're in it is another step up. 

As others have said we're only 4 points off 4th place - has to be our priority at the moment, as much as I'd love us to go on another Carabao Cup run.

He busts a gut out there but sometimes his enthusiasm leads to him being pulled out of position. A rest here would have made sense, but Howe values his leadership and physicality too highly to not play him.

He's not alone in falling foul of that, but tends to not attract the same level of criticism that others do and if he does, it gets called out. 

He's a great player and being a local lad it does afford him some degree of latitude, but he's not infallible.

I think it's fair to say we need to bring in Pope's replacement this summer at the latest. Ramsdale gives us good cover and better distribution and ball playing but lacks size and command of the area. If getting Trafford in means Livramento moves the other way then fuck that. Much easier IMO to bring in a European keeper with size and better feet than Pope than it is to get a player with Livramento's pace/engine/quality.

I doubt we will have much choice in the matter if Livramento decides he wants to go the other way

And much as I hate to say it, it would be a bizarre decision for him if he decided not to move if he got the chance

Best we can do is protect ourselves by getting him to sign a new contract with a decent get our clause

He just looks shorter and narrower. When they're about to have a shot he looks like he's got less chance of stopping it through that alone.

He had Murphy and Elanga on the bench.  Yet played Barnes on the right and he wasn't close to being as effective as he has been.  IMO Bring on Elanga around the 65th minute to stretch them.  Instead he waits for the 78th minute to bring on Murphy.  I thought Murphy did alreet tbh, but I can see Murphy starting v the Mackems.  I hope he does over Barnes tbh.  Because Barnes at RW isn't effective at all.

 

Joe should have been hooked at HT. Unless he's injured he will start v the Mackems 100%.  He shouldn't but Howe won't drop him because of his 'physicality'  He was stifling our attack., giving the ball away and just needless stupid freekicks.  Miley within minutes looked better.  

Around the 75th-80th minute mark when they started to come back in, I would have taken off either Bruno or Sandro.  One to save their legs for the weekend and two to stretch them with some fresh legs and force them back.
