I'm not laying blame with my post. I'm well aware how complex managing injury risk is. It was just a thought combined with noticing how noticeably poor Tino has been this week. It may very well be unconnected and there is another reason for his poor showings.

you can tell his confidence is shot. at one point las night he received it high up the pitch with only his full back to beat. instead of going on the outside and getting a ball into the box he cuts back and passes it inside, sucking the momentum out of the move. the collective groan from the crowd was audible on the telly, which won't help his confidence but you can see why they reacted the way they did. he's massively underhwelmed so far for a £50m signing.

even his celebrations are joyful. yet to master the posing knee-slide or whatever. just runs off with a daft grin on his face like he can't believe he's just scored another goal for his hometown club. he's living the dream - no wonder he's buzzing.

I agree. A lot of what's going on with him is in his head, and I think he'll get it back eventually. He just needs a match where a few things go his way and the confidence will flood back.

It's a confidence issue - both his and his teammates IMO. Things aren't going his way so he's in his head a lot more than when he was flying at Forest. Plus it rubs off on the others. The odd time he makes a run players like Willock (not just Willock btw) make a break to the right and then cut back to play it short to Bruno killing Elanga's momentum. I seen it happen more than once at the Burnley game the other week, and spotted it a few times in other games. I think he'll come good like. Gordon wasn't much better in his first six months.

You say this as if it's impossible for a mackem to join the board. Aren't there members of this board on RTG using it to trawl for gold to post on here

Tbh we'd probably have been better off going out limply early on in this competition with a full reserve side and I can't believe I'm saying it, but these injuries and extra games are really not helping us at all if we want to progress, last night and now a two legged extra two games when we're probably going to play extra play off games in the CL as well as the two remaining fixtures with half the defence falling to bits isn't ideal.
