  1. Past hour
  2. fuck me, arguing about the weather is a new low. when does the new season start again?
  3. I think the only way they become viable for governance is via merge with the Tories. Which will happen one way or another, coalition at least. Cabinet will be populated by the usual suspects plus a few Reform orcs.
  4. It was fun for my late 20s/early 30s, but then I grew up and concurrently was not a millionaire.
  5. you might not think it matters, but i imagine it does to some south american footballers. it can still feel like winter in april in newcastle and some players will be put off by that.
  6. just in time for the site going down, yeah?
  7. He's a narcissist though, just like Johnson, he'd love to be PM. He'd get someone else to do the actual governing although there is almost noone in the party up to the task of organising a village fete.
  8. Wow 5 degrees wehay fuck me man, let's base a career on that
  9. Aye, there's a draw to London for footballers that a lot of people don't seem to share, and therefore don't get. It's a factor we've always had to negotiate beyond, and we always will. I've heard a few mumblings that Pedro was considerably pissed off that, in his opinion, he was the backup plan should the deal for Isak not come off. If there's any truth to that then we cannot be surprised if we weren't a consideration for him this time around. Wages, as Alex said, were also a massive factor. The Elanga saga seems to have legs and both Romano & Ornstein are reporting it. More so, Forest fans seem resigned to losing him. I think this one will come off and I expect Trafford to sign next week as well.
  10. London is less than 250 miles south of Newcastle. how much difference do you think that makes in the grand scheme of things?
  11. I had a choice of jobs when leaving Newcastle. Inverness or Brighton. The weather was a big factor in my decision.
  12. it's not a myth at all. london is usually a good 5 degrees or so warmer than newcastle all year round. i've lived in both cities. i love newcastle and i still call it home despite not living there for almost 30 years. i was never arsed about the weather when i lived there but i'm always struck by how much cooler it is whenever i go home now.
  13. It’s not a myth at all. You’ll get better weather in the south.
  14. He was mocked for it because he was a massive fanny rat who loved it then used it as an excuse tbh
  15. Ahh the myth about the weather. You ever spent a November in Genoa (baltic), or an overnight in New York? Bollocks man it’s a few fucking degrees here and there
  16. Aye, they even have a cracking bridge there too.
  17. Massive wages we can’t offer in Pedro’s case
  18. jenas said newcastle was a goldfish bowl. we mocked him for it, but there's something in it. it's a one city club and it must be impossible to go out as a footballer and not be mobbed by fans. some players (bruno etc) buy into it and love it. for others, it's probably off-putting. in london, no one looks up from their phone - forget about people saying hello or making eye contact, so it's probably a lot easier for a well-known footballer to move around like a "normal" person.
  19. I’ve lived half my life in Newcastle and half in South East (about 60-90 mins train into London) if I was a 23 year old with no ties to either area I’d choose London. If I was 31 and settled and liked walking my dog - I may choose Newcastle.
  20. Well coming from Blyth (sorry Seaton Sluice) London must seem like Shambhala to you
  21. the big city is appealing to a lot of people. london gates a lot of hate, sometimes justifiably so, but you will never get bored there. newcastle is a beautiful city but it is small and the weather will put off a lot of players, whether we like to admit that or not.
  22. Aye it's fucking great, but you don't have to live there or play for one of the dull clubs to participate in the place ffs
