  1. Wor lass broke up last Friday for their annual 6 week doss. And last night I was round her boss's house, whose wife is also a teacher. The collective smugness was almost too much to bear.
  2. I've a mate who had a similar situation at his old employers, constantly missed out on raises, promotions etc. Eventually a recruitment firm offered him an interview at a new company, massive raise, only for the new company to mess him about and eventually not offer him a firm position past probation. He's actually now looking at going back to his old employers.
  3. Got to be bollocks though eh? Or are they recreating "Gazza's Greatest Hits"?
  4. Aye I got that, although I did get dentist when I put my "up in court" name in.
  5. arrested for allegedly stealing a limo. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1277005,00.html
  6. We can be a PLC without being on the stock exchange or having to adhere to stock exchange rules. I imagine the PLC will have to be formally dissolved which doesn't appear to have happened yet. So, is it this dissolution process that is holding things up on the transfer side of things? Were Man City a plc or not?
  7. This bit in particular is a bit unnerving. I fucking hope that Mort & Ashley aren't thinking about a different manager. As the reported 'War chest' seems to have been 'wide of the mark', surely XXXL Sam is exactly the type of manager Mike & Mort want i.e. one who works without spending a fortune on players. ? Maybe they aren't giving him truck loads of cash to spend as he's not the manager that they want? Maybe. Or they were waiting for Shepherd to go. Or they are giving him some cash to see if he can make an improvement on the side before chucking money at him. Difficult to say and the end of the window will be the time to judge things. Still 5 weeks to go. Aye, but the season is less than three weeks away. Yet again I find myself thinking it's not so much about bodies, as giving those bodies the time needed to bond into a coherent force.

Maybe they aren't giving him truck loads of cash to spend as he's not the manager that they want? That would add up. It would also be a mistake.

  11. When did you used to go? I used to go on a friday around 90 to 92 regularly, there was always a few dance-offs going on then. Dance-offs. Like on Zoolander? That was a walk-off and the only reason you still have that video is as a training exercise, picking up tips.
  12. Rose tinted specs. Both were repeated recently and are not really worth watching now imo. My favourite was Prety in Pink, which now I find absolutely cringeworthy. Hardly. Got both on DVD and rewatch them on a more regular basis than a lot of films.
  13. Ferris Bueller, The Breakfast Club. Just class.
  14. He's a class act, but I believe, given the age difference, that Fabregas COULD well surpass him.
  15. The problem with someone like Barton is that he gives the impression that he would try his arse off to attempt to do everything. This something that I think Parker got wrong as well. He saw that leading by example meant diving in, chasing round like a mentalist. For a captain I think you need a cool head, be controlled, be able to step back to see what's going on and give instruction/encouragement etc, be an example on and off the pitch.
  16. Got a few years on him though hasn't he?
  17. Or Gemmill making a funny and Alex replying with a " " At least there's some recognition here that if it did all kick off on here, I'd be last man standing. Because you've got most reserves? Reserves? There's only one Gemmill. But in a starvation situation, when all other life has been snuffed out, you would still have plenty reserves to draw on. (Look I'm trying to call you fat, but in a rather round about fashion, if you like I can come straight out and say it)
  18. Or Gemmill making a funny and Alex replying with a " " At least there's some recognition here that if it did all kick off on here, I'd be last man standing. Because you've got most reserves?
  19. Yup. Mongtastic... Exactly as planned though eh?
  20. Oh perhaps a collective "Ah fuck, I thought he'd killed himself".
  21. If true it's even more cringeworthy than the N-O admin row a while back. What happened there? I think it was last summer and things were a bit quiet on there so they came up with some row about Bluf going mental banning people iirc, even faked a screen shot of the mod's forum showing all the threads in there telling him to calm down. It took about half an hour before people realised it was all a sham, poor effort tbh. On second thoughts I don't think the Pud/SMO row was faked, if it was they wouldn't have closed the threads as it defeats the purpose of increasing activity on the forum. Aye but closing those threads mean that new ones are started asking questions about closed threads, and generally prolonging the debacle. One locked thread = ten fresh ones.
  22. Still Butt for me, or if I was Allardyce, which I'm not, I'm not that trim, but if I was I'd be on the look out for someone of those qualities, because leadership on the pitch is something I think this squad has been lacking since Speed left. Sorely lacking, and one of the major reasons we have gone backwards over that period.
  23. Agreed he's not easy to replace, but I'm not sure how he's going to fit into the new set-up. As has been said, he's not been great out wide, and often looks disinterested there, and I don't think he's strong enough to be part of Sam's centre midfield. Perhaps on the right of a front three, where he can look to get inside, but other than that he's a bit of an odd un. And folk used to say he was versatile.
