I can only assume that's what he thought he was doing in appointing Mort (he also knew fuck all about football, but didn't actually do that bad of a job), and then to a much lesser extent, Wise.

I can't say I really mind who wins as long as it's a good match, as I've suffered enough by the shite I've had to watch this season!

Alan Shearer to discuss four-year deal at Newcastle
Matty replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
People in and around the club when SBR was in charge put a lot of the success down to Carver actually. And he can't be any fucking worse than Hughton / Calderwood. -
About 20 miles like.

Exactly.... Blackpool is an absolute shit hole man! It's like looking forward to coming to Newcastle for a match because it's close to sunderland! If anyone goes to the Preston match next season and wants a night out after, go to Preston!

Sebastien Bassong angered by quit reports May 22 2009 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle Recommend SEBASTIEN Bassong is angry at claims he has upset the applecart ahead of Sunday’s crucial game with Aston Villa. The Chronicle understands that Bassong is desperately hoping that the Magpies avoid relegation to the Championship and is heartbroken that his one-match ban was not rescinded by the FA. And it isn’t a foregone conclusion that he will automatically quit the black-and- whites if they are relegated at Villa Park. Bassong was quoted saying he had no desire to play in England’s second tier. However, a source close to Bassong said today: “Somebody asked him if he wanted to play in the Championship. “And, naturally, because he is ambitious like any young player should be, he said he didn’t want to. “He knows that this isn’t the time to talk about contracts because of the position of the team. “He will be hoping that Newcastle can do it without him on Sunday because he wants them to be in the Premier League again next season. “And he wants to play for Newcastle again next season. “He will be right behind his fellow players and the staff on Sunday, and that’s all he is thinking of at the minute.”Contract talks between Bassong and United will start on Monday. But sides interested in the 22-year-old Frenchman would have to pay the going rate in any case, with Bassong having another year left to run. Newcastle would be stupid to accept anything less than £10m for the former Metz defender who has been the player of the season in the eyes of many fans. And given that Bassong’s wages are so low there would be no reason to want to shift him off the wage bill if Newcastle were relegated, with substantially bigger earners certain to be moved on first. It has also emerged that Dennis Wise almost blew the chance of signing Bassong. The controversial transfer chief sent out his scouting network to the Toulon tournament last summer where he was playing for France Under-21s. But after Bassong played twice against Holland and Japan in defeats, while he was carrying a knock, Wise didn’t follow up with any interest. And it was Keegan who offered the player a trial before a £500,000 bargain fee was pushed through. The source added: “It was Kevin who was offered the chance to look at the player on trial and he was very impressed with him. “Afterwards, Dennis was unhappy and angry that he hadn’t been consulted first. “But it was Keegan’s signing.”

I quite fancy Shaktar winning tonight in extra time. Hard one to call though as Bremen have been poor in the league but had some decent results in the champs/uefa cup from what i remember. Hope you backed it!

source ?? TRIO DISMISS ACTION AGAINST UNITED Relegation-haunted trio Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland have dismissed claims they could sue Manchester United if they field a weakened team this weekend. Reports on Wednesday suggested the three clubs had held discussions as they prepare for a decisive final round of Premier League fixtures on Sunday with the highest of stakes. Hull, who are currently a point clear of 18th-placed Newcastle inside the drop zone, face United at the KC Stadium days before the newly-crowned domestic title-holders defend their Champions League crown against Barcelona in Rome. Sir Alex Ferguson has already indicated he will use the depth of his squad with nothing but pride at stake for his club. Middlesbrough, who face West Ham at Upton Park, need the Tigers to lose if they are to have a chance of staying up, while the Magpies have to record a better result than Phil Brown's men if they are to survive. Sunderland could go down if they lose to Chelsea and both Newcastle and Hull win, meaning all three of the north-east clubs have a vested interest in the side Ferguson sends out. However, each were quick to deny they are ready to go to the courts on the basis of Premier League rules which require member clubs to field full-strength teams. A Newcastle spokesman said: "There's no truth in it whatsoever." Sunderland refused to comment on the story, but insisted there was no foundation to it, while a Boro spokesman said: "It's not true, it's nonsense." Newcastle boss Alan Shearer was asked about the kind of side he expected Ferguson to field at Hull in the immediate aftermath of Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Fulham. He said: "Alex, when he has been in that position, has always put out a side that does his club proud, so whoever he puts out, Manchester United are that professional so they will go out and try to win that game. "I have not got any problems with that." Ferguson has hinted that England defender Rio Ferdinand could yet play at the KC Stadium as he attempts to prove his fitness ahead of the Champions League final. The 30-year-old has missed the club's last three games with a calf injury, but could be involved at the weekend. Ferguson said: "I am hoping he will be fit for Sunday - if not, he is doubtful for Wednesday, that is for sure. "I think he needs a game going into the Champions League final because him having not played for three weeks is too much." Roll your eyes to that eh!
