Can an employer demand your personal mobile number?
ajax_andy replied to ajax_andy's topic in General Chat
She doesn't need to be contacted outside of office hours but her boss reckons it's 'part of the job'. Unfortunately it's a really small company and the boss is also the owner so it's not like she can go to HR or anything. No she's not a key holder, she does have a key but she'd never need to go to the office outside of work hours. She's not paid particularly well either so to expect her to be contactable 24/7 is unfair. She also does have to work outside of office hours occasionally at networking events or meetings but these are always planned in advance and she'd not need to be contacted at home about them -
Can an employer demand your personal mobile number?

Forgot her boss already has my phone number so there's really no need for her to have my wifes... plus apparently she also has our home phone number too... so clearly she only wants it so she can hassle her with work outside of office hours!!! Bloody ridiculous! I've told her not to give it to her but not sure if she'll listen -
My wife had problem with her boss as they gave her a work mobile but then constantly hassled her at home, including weekends and even arsey texts kicking off about stuff. So much so she was in tears and stressed out for the whole weekend about going to work on the Monday. Anyway it came to a head and she told her boss she'd not be switching her work phone on outside of work hours and wouldn't be contactable. All well and good for a couple of months, but now her boss has said she wants her personal number in case of emergencies, but my wife is worried that her boss will just start contacting her about work stuff on it outside of work hours. Does my wife have to give the boss her personal number? Is there a law that states they must have it for emergencies? I've told her to give her boss my mobile number and she can contact me if it's an emergency.

Sitting in front of the PC, loading up Spotify, and with the whole world of music in front of me choosing to listen Laura Marling or Mumford and Sons.

Haha nah I don't blame him one bit tbh... he got the chance to ride in the top level of the sport, took it and did really well. Once in a life time opportunity for the guy. I'll just have to hope he gets a ride with a big team off the back off it and then hope he lets me do some more pics
-
yeah cheers mate, hopefully it's just a small set back and the next time I'll get some good luck that leads to even better places

Yeah cheers mate... just was a bit of a bolt out of the blue as was on twitter and saw someone had retweeted a new article about him having been sacked... just kind of hit me when I realised it was curtains for that pic. I'm over it now (well kind of), hopefully he gets a permanent ride in the World Superbikes as he did really well and if people take notice of his performance he'll get a good ride and if I do a good pic then it'll be worth more and be even better.

Thanks mate... tbh not sure it will. Just to have access to the pit garage to take the pic is almost unheard of

Ok slightly over dramatic title but anyone who frequents the photography forum will have seen the picture I took of British Superbike rider Peter Hickman. Well that pic was due to be printed as a limited edition print, signed by Peter and sold. I would have made a bit of money (not loads), but mainly it would have been great publicity for me and maybe opened up a door or two that would have been great for my business. Unfortunately though a week after I took it (i.e. today) Peter's been sacked by the team for defying team orders and riding in the World Superbikes for a rival team. The pic that was going to really help kick start my photo business in a new area is now completely useless (imagine Rooney in an Everton shirt for example) and won't even see the light of day, let alone be sold at various tracks, shops and on-line. Might not sound like much to some but this is a really disappointing moment for me and I am properly gutted!

Love a good success story like this... fair play to the guy. Just goes to show that whilst most people sit around moaning about their lives that some of the most unlikely people achieve success through hard work and determination. “The only real failure in life is the failure to try.” – George Bernard Shaw

Was in London at the weekend for a stag do and had a little time between connecting trains on the way home... the weather was lovely so I set about doing a quick bit of street photography. Pics were just taken and processed on my iPhone.

Everton vs Newcastle United Sun 13 May 2012 3.00pm
ajax_andy replied to Andrew's topic in Newcastle Forum
Could have sworn McFaul said you boys were gonna turn us over... hate to prove you wrong (as always) mate but I'm pretty sure we played your boys off the park Credit to Newcastle though for an outstanding season! -
Cheers man will have a listen

I had a mate at uni and his mam and dad took in a lodger... however it turned out his dad was just a big old perv and they all slept in the same bed and had threesomes every night. Can't really understand the concept really... I understand the sex side of it, but after a while having 2 wives would do my nut in!

I think with AM it became not cool to like them... they were victims of their own success and so in that sense they are very under rated now due to being so over hyped at the start. Not listened to the Bees so will have a look in to their stuff

Haha considering the last post before this one was 5 years ago it surely deserved it's own thread?

Was listening to some random crap on Spotify the other day trying to find something new to listen to, but in the end got bored and stuck some Arctic Monkeys on instead. Ended up listening to a load of B sides on there and the last 2 albums. I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea but in this day and age they really are light years ahead of any other British band out there. Even Alex Turner's solo stuff that he did for some film recently is top notch. One thing that strikes me about them is that no 2 albums are the same, they vary it loads whilst always retaining the catchy guitar riffs with interesting lyrics that helped them become noticed. I know some may find this weird to say but I honestly think they are a very underated band... sadly they were really over hyped at the start and as a result I think some people got bored of them very quickly, but their albums all have lots of depth and like I said vary a lot from each other. Any other fans on here?

I had a few appointments with ENT due to my problems and got told that becuase I wasn't getting it 13 or more times a year they wouldn't take them out... had this battle with them for years due to the overall health problems I was having. Eventually I moved house and changed doctors, asked to be referred again and then when the ENT doctor asked how many times a year I got it I said 13. Had them out about 6 months later. My advice would be to just say 13 times to the ENT doc mate, that way it makes sure they take his out.

Not good! Sadly they'll only take your tonsils out if you have tonsilitis 13 times or more a year. Still doesn't sound like you're having much fun with them... I take it you've been to the docs when it happens? What did they say?

I really should put more of my pics one here... can't believe the last thing I posted was the family shoot! Oh well here's a couple of nice pics to kick things off again. Don't know if anyone is in to British Superbikes but these pics were taken at Oulton Park and are of rider Peter Hickman. I was lucky enough to get access to his garage thanks to one of the sponsors (I was working for them doing some PR pics) and had about 2 mins in there before Hicky jumped on his bike and shot off... didn't have much time to plan shots and so the one on his bike could possibly have been a bitter better composed.

Tonsils - mine gave me nothing but problems for 10 years... even when I didn't have throat infections I constantly had colds, flu. viruses... finally had them removed and hardly ever get sick with anything these days.

Cool pics mate, really like the Owl profile as that's quite an unusual angle and is a refreshing way to capture a bird

Discrimination - competition only open to females
ajax_andy replied to ajax_andy's topic in General Chat
Haha good to see there's a group I can join to burn my boxers with! I hope I win the competition because if I do they'll probably disqualify me and then I can sell my story to the press for cash
