  1. This should do him: Pirate Bling. Nice.
  2. Romanov issues warning to players Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov has warned his players they are all for sale if they do not win this weekend, BBC Scotland has disclosed. And captain Steven Pressley responded with a statement voicing the players' unhappiness at affairs at the club. Romanov says he will move players on to "Kilmarnock or whatever club will take them" unless they defeat Dunfermline. And he has warned that he would then play a team of youngsters against Celtic the following weekend. Statement: Hearts captain Steven Pressley BBC Scotland disclosed the latest turn of events only days after Romanov granted head coach Valdas Ivanauskas two weeks' leave on the grounds of ill-health. Second-top Hearts had lost 2-0 at home to Kilmarnock last weekend, leaving the Edinburgh club eight points adrift of holders Celtic. While publicly I have expressed the needs for unity, behind the scenes I have made my concerns abundantly clear And, at Fridays pre-match media conference ahead of Dunfermline's visit, Pressley revealed that there is "significant unrest" in the dressing-room. Flanked by team-mates Paul Hartley and Craig Gordon, Pressley said in a statement that the last two years had been "testing for the players". He said the squad wished Ivanauskas well but stressed that trying to maintain team discipline and unity had become "an impossible task". "This is a statement on behalf of a number of players," he said. "This statement is no reflection on Eduard Malofeev. My first impression is that he is an honest and diligent man. "I would like to wish Valdas a speedy recovery, but whether he returns or not is almost incidental in association with the problems related to this football club. "I have tried, along with the coaching staff and certain colleagues, to implement the correct values and discipline, but it has become an impossible task. "There is only so much coaching staff, a captain and certain colleagues can do without the full backing, direction and coherence of the manager and those running the football club. "While publicly I have expressed the needs for unity, behind the scenes I have made my concerns abundantly clear. "The last two years have been testing for the players and together they have faced a number of challenges. "I would have worked hard to have retained unity. "However, due to circumstances, morale understandably is not good and there is significant unrest in the dressing-room."

  5. I think that next year's results will be shit too, but not as bad, the funds from this season's UEFA cup campaign will improve things, and the lack of spending in January will make things look better.

  8. Peru midfielder Nolberto Solano has confirmed he will return from the international wilderness against Jamaica next month. The Newcastle winger has not featured for his country since falling out with former Peru coach Freddy Ternero, but he has had a change of heart following talks with new manager Franco Navarro. "I feel good about returning for the national team in the friendly with Jamaica and I would also like to play in the Copa America next year in Venezuela," said Solano. "I have spoken with the coach Franco Navarro and we have reached an agreement for my return to the national team." Such a move will come as a blow to Newcastle, as Solano will be jetting across the Atlantic to represent his country. It is likely that Solano will not feature in all Peru's games, as he added: "We only have to agree with Newcastle which games I will play. "I want to play against Jamaica and besides the problems that I had in other times I want to wear the national shirt again." Solano is hopeful that Navarro has ironed out the problems of previous regimes. "When I took the decision to not play for Peru it was because there wasn't any kind of plan and the players like me that travelled from Europe received all the criticism when the problem was that Peruvian football did not have any kind of organisation," he added.
  9. Not sure if thats true, Randy Lerner has already said he looked at us as a takeover target but was put off by the debt.
  10. Newcastle Utd slide to £12m loss Newcastle United slid to a £12m loss last year after heavy investment in players and a fall in revenues due to its failure to qualify for Europe. The result is a reversal in financial fortune for the Premiership club which made a £620,000 profit the year before. Revenues fell by nearly £4m to £87m as an absence of European football reduced match day ticket sales. Expensive new signings such as England striker Michael Owen, bought from Real Madrid, also pushed up costs. 'Long-term benefits' Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd said the year - which saw the sacking of manager Graeme Souness and his replacement by Glenn Roeder - as one of "transition" for the club. "The board believe that the investment it has made in all areas of the club will deliver long-term benefits and will continue to take every step necessary to maximise potential for success both on and off the pitch," he commented. After finishing seventh in the Premiership last season, Newcastle qualified for European competition which will boost revenues this year. The club has been surrounded by takeover speculation in recent months with Jersey-based firm Belgravia Group considering a possible bid. Mr Shepherd said that while discussions were taking place between the two parties, there was no certainty a formal bid would be made.
