Well, you won't like the original either. I thought the original was quality but my lass said 'I thought it was meant to be a horror' The relationship [or bond, to put it better] between two forcibly isolated characters was the element that carried the original didn't it. It was a character-driven horror flick - that's a rarity in what is a pretty shallow, SGI/SFX driven genre these days. I'll put my hand up, and out myself as a culprit by admitting that i haven't seen the Hollywood remake. With that said i'm only going to base the following on press reviews. From what i've read though that 'bond' between the two central characters, hasn't found itself completely lost in translation. -
Andy Carroll - Will he stay or will he go?
Dolly Potter MD replied to loonyTOON's topic in Newcastle Forum
15 million [bare minimum] would slice into Ashley's grand debt reduction plan, to have us achieving an operating profit status. Ashley's balance sheets rule at the roost at the end of the day, and for Carroll to stay there has to be a major u-turn in the current ownership's policy re: cashing in our chips, when our most saleable assets [best players] respective values peak. -

Beneath Hill 60: 3.5 out of 5. Suspiria: Can see how it shocked all those years ago. 3 out of 5. -
Watched the first episode - impressive stuff. Second episode looks good, going by the sneak peek. A second series has been commisioned [is in the pipeline] due to the favourable reception of the pilot. Romero's 'Dead' series has gone off the rails, going by his last two outings 'Diary' and 'Survival'. This is a welcome diversion, and a welcome addition to the genre.

He has steadied the ship, halted the slide in a difficult situation, as Keegan did in his original stint. Hughton should walk if Ashley throws anything like the conditions [amounting to a straightjacket-like effect on any chance of progression] to what Mallinger & Forbes first offered Keegan - back when KK 'unofficially quit' the first time.

Wasn't his original contract a 5 year deal. This Summer [with potentially a season's worth of striking performances, to dilute his nightmare first season] would be the last opportunity for Ashley to seriously cash-in. Although it would be for a minimal profit, on Ashley's original investment/purchase price. Much more disciplined now in the basics of defending, although it helps having a midfield not being overrun/offering some semblance of protection. Combined with his passing play [which has never been in doubt] this season is acting as a glimpse, preview or showcase, of what Colo could offer a top club/team.

The Cove: a 5 out of 5 documentary. Ranges from insightful & sad [Flipper's suicide in the arms of his trainer/and the film's overall protaginist] to barbaric [what the zip-eyed bastards are doing in Taiiji]. As a film that's designed to raise awareness towards eco-related issues it strikes a nerve [everybody i know who has seen it has at least clicked onto the website listed at the end of the film] and it should be made compulsary viewing in schools. -
Is Michael Ashley still an unofficial sponsor of that website/forum? In all seriousness though the prominent voices on that forum bears more of a resemblance to a little campfire sleep-over [with marshmallows passed around] where praise is heaped upon our philanthropist owner.

Best thing to happen [re: the injury] in this financial year, for the club's balance sheets, under the proviso that we retain our premiership status. That's looking at from Ashley's perspective. I think we'll bypass Marseille [Dessier in particular] altogether, as Dessier is answerable to his board. As such Marseille won't budge much in any sort of negotiations over the Summer, as far as trying to stick in principle to the 5m figure because at the end of the day it was freak injury which has scuppered the deal/clause. Webster move on the horizon, and another likely notch on Ashley's belt ie. another chairman effectively beaten-up or out-maneuvered re: boardroom politics.

The Messenger: Very highly recommended. Woody Harrellson is a very underrated dramatic actor [i liked his bit-part role in Thin Red Line] probably because of his history as being typecast as the zany type -

Some newly devised traps, with a few storyline driven flashbacks [relating to Jigsaw] thrown in. -

Video Game Addiction - when it becomes a problem.

Even though i've watched him a couple of times i have no idea, it all flies past mt eyes too quickly. But it's special forces based moniker - something with Delta or Gurkha in it. Myself and another mate popped around to see him a couple of weeks ago. We wore out our welcome pretty quickly, we're both too muck of a distraction. I think we broke up his concentration, and subsequently stuffed up a 22 kill streak, or something like that. -

It's a simply a waste of my time [and others] to go out of your way to see a bloke, with a couple of beers in tow, only to extract yes & no answers and the occasional nod of the head. Blokes like this [the example provided] are waste of oxygen. Fish: the greater evil in this instance is the bloke not giving a fuck about the welfare & goings-on of his kid/daughter [not picking up on signs], with the preference geared towards the amount of kills that he could rack up in X amount of games over lengthy period. -
A former work colleague of mine and probably former mate, spends a minimum of eight hours a day on Modern Warfare [Ps3], and that's during his working week. Works eight hours, plays for about eight straight [with a brief meal break], and sleeps off the rest. *He and his fiancee don't speak during so-called gaming time [which dominates the family living room], and any input regarding a family-type of discussion is viewed as an interruption. *If mates do happen to visit him there's no such thing as a conversation. The headphone set remains planted to his head. Unsocial & rude in short. *And because the headphones are planted to his head all the time [in addition to his eyes being fixed to the big-screen] he failed to pick up on a few warning signs concerning his kids ie. his daughter [10 or 11 years old] lost her virginity to a lad a few years older than her. The young lass actually snack out of the house, and was able to catch a one hour bus ride to the young lad's house before he even knew she was going, right underneath the dumb c**t's nose while he was supposedly babysitting. *Loss of physical conditioning. This bloke was formerly a very fit forty year old. *Aggression on his part. He threatened to boot his missus out on to the street after she threatened to accidentally scratch his disk while he was at work, since taking the piss out of him wasn't working with comments like 'i'll have to get a physio to scrape you off the couch' On-line gaming is arguably the greatest social evil going around at the minute.

Both teams' respective creative strengths/flanks have the potential to cancel each other out. Enrique is the most physically imposing fullback that Mohamady will face, certainly up to this stage of the campaign. The said winger earned alot of plaudits against Man City, but his opposition was a played out-of-position centrehalve in Lescott. In addition Mohamady touch on the ball seems heavy, they'd have one heck of a player if his close control rivalled his pace & ability to drop his shoulder [riding a challenge] into his man. Mohamady isn't going to physically overwhelm Enrique by dropping his shoulder & blowing past him, and heavy touches on the ball will be swallowed up Enrique. You could could offer a similar argument re: Onuoha, with regards to any negating effect on Jonas' potential contribution and the said player is a top defensive prospect imo. And both widewen [Jonas & Mohamady] do track back, and offer a semblance of physical presence to compliment their workrate/defensive application. Our biggest concern defensively is Henderson's passing range, his eye for a killer ball. And Bent is due for a goal from open play, and contrary to Ashleysskidmarks esteemed opinion the said player is far from being 'shit'. Collo and Williamson's collective weakness [as a central pairing] is still the piercing/direct ball through the middle. As such this derby could be the making of the young lad, in local folklore that is - before any sort of significance pertaining to his mooted in-demand status among the current top 4 is taken into consideration. I'd be starting Campbell [ahead of Williamson] because: *he's still the best athlete of the three available centrehalves, and us such would dampen the aforementioned weakness that Collocini/Williamson both offer as a pairing. *and over a decade's worth of experience in heated derby games. We don't need 'stargazers' in the heart of the defense in this one, or somebody who might soak up the occasion too much & subsequently get rattled. Henderson, despite his forward going endeavor, is still naive defensively and his workrate [or lack of] in the transition passing game is Sunderland's archille's heel in the engine room. Despite him showing so far that he is a very efficient & very good deep playing link-up man this is one game i'd expect [or hope for that is] Tiote to put in a more balanced performance between the boxes, with more forward runs. There's room behind Cattermole & Henderson to be exploited, it's there for the taking. Ben Arfa would've torn them shreds. It will be tight, this is Sunderlands best performed back four to visit in many seasons. With that said Tiote [any potential go-foward from him] and Nolan's propensity to be a fox-in-hole type of poacher are the keys to a one goal win.

Human Centipede: cheap & nasty, low-rent horror film. Arguably the worst acted 'villain' one could ever see on the small screen. 0 out of 5. -

Predators: brainless, pop-corn eating flick. Fun nonetheless. Predators are just cool really, extraterrestrial Jamaicans hopping on hi-tech boat & going fishing - i liked the subtle differences in the Predators' respective helmets. 3 out of 5. -
People can bang on about the transfer system being a false economy, and how it should be bought into line to follow the EU-Line [accepted employment law affecting freedom of movement], but it's exclusive. The transfer market [and the trading of employees, whose respective talents have been nurtured by their clubs] is hard currency for all clubs, and the lifeline for feeder clubs. As Holloway infers, the old system was 99.99% fair. The case of Marc Bosman [his club behaving like pricks and not paying him, while still being the custodians of his registration papers] was an isolated one, and it certainly didn't warrant the transfer system [where player/agent power has become a disproportionate entity by itself] being turned on its head. The greatest irony being that the football landscape was forever & significantly changed by a player of limited ability. ..and the EU and its cosseted middle European dandruff ridden fat pink necked, flemish, dour Brusels types are thick and arrogant. Employment law as in France (the yardstick of civilisation apparently) means you can't fire a fucking secretary who's late three times a week without giving her 3 warnings and getting a letter from a beuracrat and 6 hearing, and 5 fake homely coffee chats and finally a letter from a wine addled judge. Mario Monti: is he still a sitting member of the EU. He was the bloke [in charge of competition a few years back] making the most noises, questioning the legality of the transfer system. The EU are on constant alert for an appropriate test case, to rip up the system in court. Their shown yellow card is trigger fire ready. It's why ugly club vs player disputes [concerning player movement] should raise concerns for clubs and supporters alike, when blokes like Ben Arfa play the 'footballers are slaves' card.
