  1. I lived in Hackney for 3 fun packed years... Most of the kids there support Arsenal or Chelsea. But West Ham does have apparently more season ticket applications than it has seats, so perhaps they can fill it, perhaps. Leyton Orient definately could not which is a shame as it's certainly in their 'manor'. Plus they beat Wales a few years ago didn't they!?
  2. I have a daft collection of shirts but the only one with a name on it is the 95' grandad collar one with Asprilla 11 on the back. He's my favourite ever footballer. I know he wasn't at Newcastle long but he was special.
  3. "knee bother" How professional is the Chronicle! Or maybe they're writing in Geordie now?
  4. To be fair I have absolutely nothing against Gateshead and their fans. Non-league football shouldn't be about gloating (or fighting) so I'm looking forward to a cracking game, that Blyth will win. But chuffed that North East football is looking healthy on all levels!
  5. give it another 25 years or so... Why do I always think that's Michael Schumacher?
  6. I thought he meant post number 155?!
  7. He nearly did get lynched! A few wanting over the fence after that! The other defenders body language speaks volumes..
  8. hey look on the bright side, this could well be a "come and buy it" statement. All the 'Carrol is not for sale' stuff was to drum up interest/ raise the price and it worked. He's a businessman (and a twat..) so you never know...
  9. Be warned a promise from a journalist/writer not to take the piss means nothing at all if that's what the tone of the article is intended to be. I've literally said the same thing in the last 24 hours to someone I've included in a book. All they want is vague permission should you give your real name, which you wisely haven't! As for leaving early, it's too expensive to do that! but I fully understand your reasons, everyone is different, not right or wrong, but different.
  10. In all fairness the club may have just declared him injured rather than risk him getting crocked. PS I really like Lovenkrands as a player. He's a bit old (like me!) but can't fault his commitment.
  11. re: NUFC think if you wanted to you could use it, after all Niall and Biffa have the NUFC.com page which isn't official.
  12. I bet it's going to be Allardyce. or is he in charge of Real Madrid now?
  13. Just don't call it the Association of Newcastle United Supporters. Definately needs Newcastle United in there in my humble opinion, not toon or magpies. What about Newcastle United Fans Club? (NUFC )
  14. J69 has a very good point, please don't dismiss it out of loyalty to the club. It's not a betrayal of the club, they have already betrayed you! A result like this after the Carroll sale will only turn more people against Carroll and not the morbidly obese fella who arranged the whole thing. The good thing about Ashleys BMI is it indicates an early demise (shall we say) from the club. But don't get on at each other when you konw where the problem lies.
  15. You're right, certainly doesn't justify the sale of Carroll, but he has the quality to make it in this league, and I hope it's at Newcastle, we need to get behind him and help him get that belief. And in all fairness we have nowt to lose by that!
  16. Very very true. I believe that other chairmen have commented on Ashley's unprofesionalism too. Newcastle will become, if not already are a club that people would prefer not to do business with. Lets be honest it looks like players don't care where they play so Ashley's little price hike gambles will not be forgotten.
  17. Having seen him a few times in the reserves I think Ranger really has got the quality, he just needs to 'switch on' a bit more in the seniors. He's young enough that we shouldn't give up yet! I think he just needs a good performance to gain some of the confidence he needs.
  18. The thing is though if you get an organised group of supporters it will get 'political' at some point. ( I don't mean like neo-nazi ultras or anything). But for example in terms of a boycot of the club following a sacking or selling etc an organised group can effect real influece and possibly change. I can't imagine that many pro-Ashley NUFC fans exist and as such a supporters club would inevitably have a lot of the most passionate fans active in it. I say make a supporters club but don't tie its hands, let it operate like a union in the interests of its members, and thus if fans truly want to protest something then it can be far more organised, impressive and effective than writin on a bedsheet. The NUST is a noble idea, and there's no reason a supporters club couldn't work with it, and the club as and when appropriate. BUT most important you have to get a card and badge.
  19. Not a betting man and all that, but I have a reasonable source who tells me that Barton is wanted (not that he will go there etc.) by West Ham in particular They certainly are investing, and incidentally at the end of the transfer window had 8 strikers! My only club connection/source is at West Ham, so it's not official etc.
  20. That Shola pic wouldn't take a great deal of work for our talented Stokoeshoppers.
  21. His whole Liverpool statement is a bag of cliches. I doubt he wrote it but as I've said before when you've cost someone 35 million quid you don't sit there and say you'd rather be somewhere else.
  22. I don't disagree, totally wrong to do it (if he did), just trying to understand it I suppose. But then professional footballers are just that aren't they? No matter what they say they aren't fans (except Matt leTissier!).
  23. In all fainess to Carroll when Liverpool were making him a double your money offer he was probably right to ask Newcastle if they were taking the piss in expecting him to be on 1/2 what he's worth for 5 years. Don't get me wrong I think even £200,000 a year would be obscene for a footballer, but he's been brought up in a different mentality, surrounded by mercenary footballers and agents.
