You're creating something in your head that isn't there as a way of hoisting Jonas out the team. The left side isnt the problem in a 4-4-2, it's the middle of the park, we get outnumbered there and lose the ball way too much when playing against a team who load thier midfield.

I'd go: Harper Perch Williamson Colo Santon Amalfitano Anita Tiote Marveaux Shola Cisse Give Anita a run out in the middle of the park and let him be the one with the more attacking mindset of the 2 CM's instead of restricting him to being defensive, as he hasn't really got a foothold in the games he's played being the defensive midfielder.

It was an unspectacular performance but at least we got the three points, not forgetting we had 3 of our usual back 5 out and still looked pretty solid defensively. Once we get Tiote back in the middle or put a 3rd man in there we'll look alot better and fluid and will let Cabaye get on the ball more and pull the strings, as when he's not playing with Tiote or 2 next to him he seems to be alot more defensive minded. Lets not forget we didn't exactly set the world on fire at home last season either. After the game yesterday and leaving the ground it just felt like most of our performances/wins last season. Williamson was awesome tbf to him, won pretty much everything and put in alot of blocks. You'd find it pretty hard to find a better player on the pitch than him today

I'd go with: Harper Tavernier Perch Williamson Santon Gosling Bigi Vuckic Obertan Marveaux Shola Should be a strong enough team to at least get a result with alot of those players on the verge of the first team and looking to impress. I'd take Taylor out as we know what his injury record is like and the number of games coming up it would be best not to risk him. Probably be a scrappy game as they usually are early in Europe, so if there is a winner it will only be by the one goal.

People are getting too quick at judging our players before giving them a chance. Marveaux's only had a handful of competitive starts in the past year and the last few months he was at Rennes (I think it was Rennes anyway)

Nah, we don't play 4-4-2 well because we cant hold onto the ball in the middle of the park when playing against teams playing 3 there. Jonas gives us an outlet and is always there for to play the ball out of defence. Seen a stat also saying that before this weekends games he'd won the ball back the 4th most times in the Premiership, so far this season.

Youre scapegoating Jonas when the fact of the matter is we play 4-4-2 pretty shite against teams who play 3 in midfield. That all stems from the CM's as they're not getting a foothold on the game, which was shown in our last few games. It's not getting the best out of the players. The decision Pardew needs to make is to shift to 4-3-3, not dropping Jonas. Stop critisizing for the sake of it and look at the bigger picture, not just at one player.

Yup, add Bordeaux on the Thursday and Man U on the Sunday and that's 8 games in 20 days. For the first time we'll probably be grateful for the international break because we've got Sunderland our first game back from that.

The squads gonna be stretched as we play Monday, Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday then Saturday. A fucking horrific schedule
