What I don't get, is year after year you hear "It's so competitive now hardly anyone can get in". But then loads of Universities allow people who missed their target in. Someone I know got a full grade below what Notts Trent wanted and they still let her in . Also my application was denied by Queen Mary UOL for not having enough target grades, and then I went and got the 320 they wanted for the course I wanted To be honest mate I reckon you'll get in, if they can't decide and have decided to bin off anyone below 179 (how random) looks like 220 is well above what they want.

Aye if I was you i'd do that tomorrow, but leave today for them to decide. How far off the results you needed to get were you? I got 20 ucas points more , there should be a way of selling extra points to the ones who just miss

As a flip side to that, I'm sure I read that 31 thousand people died in the Spanish Inquisition, including thousands (mostly Jews, Protestants etc) who were burned at the stake. This was in a book I read a year or two back so don't have any internet evidence... however a quick search can find me, http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsourc...nquisition.html which has a general overview on the Inquisition. This was done by Catholics mostly to keep control on their kingdom from the "evils" of Reformed Christian (Protestantism being an example) etc, but also for political and terror reasons, plus nobody expects it. Spanish History is one of my favourites so thought i'd contribute something "evil" from their past.

As everyone knows, giving 50% of the population a degree (as Labour once hoped) dilutes the meaning of a Degree, but I don't get those who think that this makes Degrees worthless? Surely they're more important now, if a degree is the new minimum for most jobs, surely not having one is just going to make you look stupid? "Why doesn't he have a degree" etc etc. The entire "No point in going to University" school of thought is baffling, regardless of anyones personal opinion on giving shit courses out to idiots who spell college "collage" and think a media degree will get them to Hollywood. Now i'm going out to celebrate my results, I don't want to come back and see anyone else pissing on my bonfire now .

Clee, I have a history and politics degree, so if you need help...............................I'll laugh at your expense. Only joking. It is important you have a career plan when you do such a subject, otherwise you'll end up drifting around shitty jobs like I have. Another bit of career advice is that you should not want to go into the heritage/museum sector. They pay is appalling, they expect you to have volunteered (i.e. Practically a full-time job for nowt) for 2 years at least before even the lowest job, and due to the recession and the olympics, budgets from government/councils will be savaged. Thanks, yeah i'm not too sure yet what I want to do , I still have an embarrassingly stupid and naive hope of becoming a novelist. I know it will never happen mind but hey, we all dream don't we? There's obviously the other options of being a historian and everything, but that too is just being stupid thinking I can do it. I did my extended project on the Spanish Civil War , 5000 words on foreign intervention in the Spanish Civil War, that's when you knwo you're ready for Uni.

I was thinking of going to Hampton and Richmond but not too sure yet, i'm quite sure Brentfords nearby too! Just want a nice club where it's cheap to get in and watch, but the standard and facilities aren't so horrific.

I don't know if it's in this thread or another, but somewhere in here I said that I think that would be a good idea! If we create an entire financial union it could stabilize all of Europe's economy. If the two big players in the Eurozone believe in it I think they're either trying to look after their own backs or trying to further help the countries in problems (probably both). Eurosceptics will probably look at it shiftily but a sort of Federal system could benefit the Eurozone in the long run. I also challenge someone to tell me the potential problems. That's not cocky either, i'm genuinely interested in finding out what the problems of such a government would be.

Like everyone say's it's best just to go to your GP, i'm the sort of person that always puts it off and regrets it so i'm just as bad as most men haha. Not sure if it'll be M.E. though.
