I'm going to the theatre tonight. I hate people who surreptitiously (or not so surreptitiously) check their phone during a performance - but if anything was going to make me renege on that policy...

Finally did this trip last weekend, at the fourth time of asking. Felt like a free hit given the travel and accommodation were paid for in early 2020, which isn't a bad thing considering the Dutch coast isn't the cheapest of places (especially now), but the cycling was good, the beaches are lush and the weather was spot on - plenty of direct sunshine but never got properly above 20 degrees, which suits me fine. Some decent sunsets too...

Spot on, of course (not that it makes his slow demise any less glorious)

I've genuinely been looking at the ferry equivalent of FlightRadar today to track a friend arriving at Harwich. It exists and everything.

And they say grey is an unflattering colour. -
Or they'll keep describing it as Labour's summer/autumn of discontent and people will believe it.

I know it's a bit of a stretch but we've seen this in Eurovision fandom too. Early days of social media, the people in charge had no interest - and they probably didn't have the staff even if they had - so it was fan sites, bloggers and later YouTubers who took on the mantle and became content providers (and, to be fair, they were given access in the form of press accreditation for events and the like, so it didn't go unrecognised and was symbiotic to an extent). Nowadays, the official channels have everything uploaded ASAP, they clearly have people working on that side of things who know what they're doing, they engage properly and frequently, their Twitter account even deals in sassy GIFs and the like - all very reminiscent of NUFC post-Ashley, in other words - and the corollary is that there's almost no fan access or accreditation available any more. Which is obviously a bit of a shame given how things used to be, but on the other hand, if you've got a smallish audience and you're not producing anything that isn't being done better by the professionals then you can hardly argue with that.
