Once won the egg and spoon race at my primary school swimming gala when I was about 6. Being a lanky beanpole even at that age I surreptitiously walked the full width of the pool...can't believe they didn't disqualify me. Looking back on my life so far, this is by far my biggest shame.

Don't know if there's a film of it, I can certainly remember a BBC kids' drama serial back in the early 1980s - which was standard BBC fare - but I absolutely loved that book. If I recall correctly, I think perhaps Westall did a sequel with the main character much older, but I can't remember that far back anymore so can't remember what it was called. Fathom Five was the direct sequal, but I didn't think Chas McGill was that much older. Aye, that's the one. No idea why I thought he was "much older" in that book, guess it's just the distance of the memory...

Night owl. Would ideally go to bed around 2am, get up around 10/11ish. TBH, that's pretty much what I do anyway - except I have to get up about half 7ish, so am just constantly building up massive sleep debt. It's why I'm so fucking grumpy.

Why are you doing 4 day weeks? I think you should have to suffer for 5 days I've just finished my nights untill Monday night....or I would have if I hadnt said I'd cover Saturday night Gemmill's doing 4 day weeks? You sure? If you counted that hours that he actually "works", you'd be luck if he's doing a 2 day week. However, like all accountants, he'll be charging for the full 8-day week.

I thought they made a TV drama about this very subject a few years back. Don't see this one being particularly successful at the Box Office.
