  1. Listening on 5live xtra. Not the same as BBC Radio Newcastle. I wish they'd SFU talking shite between them and comment on the game.
  2. If Jonas isn't fit enough to start, then I'd have put Guthrie with SMith in the middle and put Lovenkrands on the left as he's played there before. Other than that, the rest of the team pretty much picks itself.
  3. I've had a couple of beers whilst I'm working so I'm feeling more optimistic for a win. My usual optimism has only been soured by the injuries. Without them I'd have said a win. With them, I'm a little concerned that some of our replacements might not be up to the task - Kadar for example. Throwing a new boy who's just got off the bus (Van Arnholt) is risky - although it worked ok on Wed for Willy & Routledge. Fuck it, I'm rambling - a win. We have some pace and they aren't great. Fate will have it that Nobby will score/set up a goal via some sublime crossing; but we will win 1:2. Carroll to get a brace as we learn how to use the wings properly. Evidence to support latter statement = nil. Do I care? = Na EDIT: Just seen Butt is incentre midfield rather than Guthrie & Jonas isnt on from the start. My optimism has dropped (more than) slightly.
  4. I recklon we've only paid a million for him. Isn't it 3mil including wages over the length of his contract? He's valued at 600k on FM. Actually, if we've paid a million, then that's supposedly £2mil in wages over 3 yrs. That's approx £34k/week. I cant see us paying that so maybe the £3mil is bollox. Either way, if we've bought him for £1mil then I think we've done well by all accounts. EDIT: I cant use a calculator. That's approx £14k/wk which makes sense I'm off home for some sleep

  6. Aside from how good/bad/indifferent he might be (I'm thinking/hoping the former); it's really nice to see NUFC doing a deal out of the spotlight without the usual procrastination. We need pace on the right wing and he will bring it. If he's cost us sod all and 3mil over 3years is hardly astronimical; then great. Even if he struggles in the Prem, if he helps us secure our return then he'll have paid for himself. We might be able to sell him on to another CCC club if he cant cut it. Feeling more positive now
  7. Aren't they the Iraqi version of 30 secs to Mars? Wasn't their last single a reworking of The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction: (I can't get no) WMD? IIRC it garnered some interest a few years ago but ultimately proved lacking in any substance
  8. My concerns come from talking to a collegue whis is a Leeds season ticket holder and watches them home and away. Whilst he is their top scorer, he needs loads of chances per game to convert 1 / 2. Leeds create loads at the minute as the have the attacking players to do so. My concern is that we dont. Whilst I agree we need pace, I think we are more desparate for pace on the wings rather than a pacy forward who's conversion rate is around 1 in 8, 1 in 10. My collegue also feels he isn't good enough for the top level. I've never seen him play, so I can only go off whay I've been told by someone who has - lots. My other concern is that if we spunk 2mil on a forward, we wont spunk 2+mil on anyone else and we really need some pace & creativity in midfield. If I thought for a second we'd spend enough to buy both then I'd be a lot more positive about the Beckford option.
  9. Cult - Greatest Hits. Currently - Lil Devil
  10. I'm struggling to think of who else we can play at RB other than Guthrie. Kadar needs to replace Saylor so he's out. What about Tozer? Can he play at RB? EDIT: didnt read .COCK's reply
  11. Sorry, haven't been online since Wed. Anyway - its been changed. There was a 26 char limit, so I could do 'Geordie Lad@sd.cock' or my preferred 'GeordiePissflaps@sd.cock' (power mad yer knaa). As it happens, @sportsdirect.COCK works better as more of the name can be seen The more I think about it though, @sportsdirect.COCK is ironically funny and less of a punishment. So, what are the terms of .COCK's punishment? End of the season? If we say until Sale time we may have to put in a proviso of "until we are sold/start of next season. Whichever comes first". Part of me knows that if MA can find a way to cock up a summer sale he will.
  12. If his crime had been more henious, we'd have had a winner I think a poll might be in order
  13. As someone in this thread mentioned homeplugs, I used the 200mbps versions of these Netgear Home Plugs as I find that the wireless connection can be a bit slow sometimes when you're on XBL. It's probably partly down to the fact my Xbox spent most of it's life (until recently) in the conservatory at the other side of the house. Still - this is a canny price for the 85mbps versions. Incidentally, the 85mbps versions would be more than fine for XBL and streaming.
  14. You soft shite. You were trying to be funny and the response is not unexpected. Armchair Pundit pulled a similar trick a while ago and in fun we changed his name to Armchair Penis until the sale saga was resolved. The difference is, he took it in the good humour it was done in. Gemmil might be onto something with his Geordie Ladyboy suggestion. Alternatively - Geordie Tart is a contender for me.
  15. I put it to you all. Choose Geordie Knobhead's new name and it will be done. I'm flexible on the terms of his punishment too
  16. In fairness, I dont think anyone is making any decisions based on peoples responses on here. We've already made the decision to get the jab although I must admit I've personally started to hesitate. I've not even voiced this to the wor lass yet. Personally, I started this thread just to share thoughts and see what other people were thinking. It seems I'm not alone in my hesitancy. I might be over-racting tbh (probably) but this is the first time we've had ot make this kind of decision. Matt has had all the other recommended jabs to date IIRC and we've hesitated about this one because of the mixed feeling about it. My sister in law is a nurse and she was given the jab. It made her sick although to be fair I think that was the live vaccine rather than the one Matt's being offered. I forgot to mention earlier that when Swine Flu was doing the rounds last year, Matt got ill. The Doctors prescribed Tamiflu as a precaution as he had more than just a cold type bug (v high temp, floppy etc). It comes in capsule form which we had to open and mix with various things to get him to take it. It's bitter as fuck and it was a nightmare getting him to take it.
  17. I think Tomaz should have walked too. He should have been given a 2nd yellow. IIRC for the 1st 20mins he basically just fouled anyone who came near him (usually Jonas). In fairness though, Jonas could have very easliy walked for his dive in the box later in the game. That Tomaz was really effective for WBA as the game went on though. In the end we were lucky to get a point but is was really 2 points dropped imo. The 2 pen shouts were stone wallers, especially the one on Lovenkrands early in the game. The bloke almost dragged him down in a headlock. Defensively we were all at sea last night and it invited WBA to attack. I felt that Nolan and Smith should have got a better grip on the game although out of the two, Smith didnt do much wrong. Nolan was missing for most of the game which was frustrating. We desperately need some creativity in midfield, particularly on the right. Our wing play is woeful. WBA are well organised and Forest have 2 wingers who have pace and can cross. As a result, their strikers are scoring. We have none of this.
  18. It's a tricky one, but I personally wouldn't do it. I can't remember, but is it a live vaccine or a dead one?? It's not a live vaccine. I've rang and postponed it until I've read and thought a bit more. I thought I had it straight in my head but that fact I keep thinking about makes me wonder if I should do the same. Will talk about with the Mrs tonight I think. THe question I keep asking myself is "is the risk of him getting it and being one of the few who become seriously ill with it greather than the risk of the jab being another Thalidamide?" Talking myself round in circles.
  19. Tell you what Leazes, you might have about 20 odd years on me but that, fire & water and Mr Big rate as some of my all time favourite tracks; Wishing Well, topping the 3. Without question though; Paul Rodgers is the best vocalist this country has every produced. I've seen him twice now and I'll see him again in April when he tours with Bad Company; ahem Birthday present for my Dad
