reckon we're more likely to see Jonas moved to midfield, his work rate will be valuable against swanseas game, keeping the pressure on them. -
Have we seen Jonas at Lb twice now? Norwich and Liverpool? and then as the third midfielder (very effectively) against west brom? can see that being how it pans out as hes a more attacking option as left back to play at home but will definitely cover more ground than guthrie away from home in midfield
-
Aye but as a defender he's not good enough to be a top half player to me. Is nice to have but the right backs job isn't to score goals.
-
Johnsons gash though and should be at best third choice as England right back at the moment. How does he remind you of him?
-
We need to have a squad whose backups aren't neccesarily comprised of inexperienced kids or total unknowns, I do think we're best off getting a left back and shifting santon in at rb but we don't need to get rid of simpson to do that. What happens when our new left back picks up a knock or suspension, or santon does? We have barely any defensive depth but were advocating a one in one out policy on it?

Makelele most obvious comparison to me

I think a demonstration that refs can get decisions like that right without the acting would stamp it out, not red cards, you've got to be a mong to suggest they should be sent off for making the most of something that did happen when it's a booking for pretending something did when it didn't which is ACTUAL cheating
-
difference between Perch going down and Carroll going down one was gamesmanship the other was cheating ones been panned since it happened, the other has barely had a mention
-
because they're allowed to, this happened with the barton/gervinho incident, there was next to no focus on the fact that the player sent off lashed out violently and SHOULD have gone but loads of moaning about barton going down too easy and its the same this time round fact is, Reina was sent off as he should've been, I have no faith that the ref would've sent him off if perch hadn't gone down like he did but that would have meant a wrong decision so the end result is a correct decision that negatively effects Liverpool so everyones whining about that part rather than that reina was acting like a bellend in the first place. the referee got it right, yellow for perch for tripping reina, red for reina for sticking his head in perchs face.

The thing about "Rogers for england" or even "Pardew for england" is that you can see that the difference they make to their sides is with coaching Rogers team must train like mad to be so disciplined and to play the way they do, it wouldn't work for a national side unless the players clubs all took the same stance (ala spain since most of them are barca or real players) Pardew spends a lot of time coaching and man managing to get the best out of the team as we've seen with the way hes handled situations like Ben Arfa. Redknapp (I think it was Van Der Vaart who said this) doesn't really operate that way, he motivates the team and picks 11 players in a vague formation, tells them to play football. that kind of stance would work best when you have limited time with the players like a national manager does.

of course they are! everything is black and white in this situation rather than a more subtle shade of manc mag
