I think there is a difference in Foreign policy and it's that Obama has enshrined as the bipartisan approach actions much worse than Bush. Because Conservatives are nasty pasties and democrats are namby pamby. Bush was under huge scrutiny from civil liberties critics just for illegally monitoring the calls/mails of US citizens, Obama has immunised anyone from prosecution for that minor faux pas and had virtually no blow back from seizing the right to assassinate US citizens (even 16 year olds) with no evidence of wrongdoing. What can a president not do now, if he can do that? Bush was compared to Hitler for merely detaining "terror suspects" captured on 2 fronts (in Iraq/Afghanistan) indefinitely without charge, Obama has been lauded by liberals for maintaining Guantanamo for those in detention already...but also for switching from a capture policy to a murder one, killing suspects (and their families/associates/bystanders) with flying robots in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen & Somalia.

It often surprises me how shit some of the websites are for the highstreet stores. Comet was a woeful site last time I used it, which was only to take advantage of a some mis-priced item from hotukdeals. Woolies was the same too, looked like it was a one man bands website. If they had embraced and invested properly in online sales earlier they may have avoided such losses. HMVs site was always much better than virgin too. No surprise they outlasted them.

As i watched I replaced references to "Jesus", "God" and "Jerusalem" with "Dipsy", "Lala" and "Tellytubbyland". Made me no less concerned for his mental health, but made me chuckle.

In the absence of the electorate making any move towards a third party I find myself hoping for a Romney win. At least then there is some popular opposition to the conservative policies of the US voiced in the media. http://www.obamatheconservative.com/

Aye. She's been more proactive about it than her predecessors though I think. She's only been in the job a few weeks and she's also been strongly critical of the papers propagandistic use of the term "militant" based only on government claims.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/oct/31/nyt-bbc-saville-nocera I hadn't thought about it in contrast to the Penn State scandal. Wonder if the BBC will be as tainted by it as they were. Probably not if Thomson had exposed the wrongdoing of his long gone predecessors and their employees. Burying it is what will fuck them over now.

I love Star Wars, but people are very precious about it aren't they. If Gnomeo and Juliet doesn't put people off Shakespeare I don't see why Jar Jar Binks should spoil The Empire Strikes back for anyone.

Quarter of the way through the season so I'm gonna place my bets. Newcastle have had the hardest start of anyone in the top half, FACT we may only be 10th off it, and performances might not be what we'd want (they weren't last year though either) so I'm gonna have £20 on us finishing top 6 at 10/3. The only other top half team that's had more difficult games than easy ones is Man U, and they're still up there in second. Despite Man City not losing a game yet and Chelsea being top, I'm going to have a tenner on Man U for the title. 7/4 I don't actually think West Ham will go down. They'll go bottom half if they couldn't do any more than they have with their piss easy start, but Allardyce knows how to grind out results against good teams as well as shit teams. That said, in for a penny....i'm gonna have £10 on them dropping at 10/1 anyway. Everton are always shit out of the blocks and it's clear why they've fared better this season than any of Moyes' previous years in charge. Not really any bet worth taking with them though, they'll drop out of the top 6, but not much lower. Swansea have had the easiest start of anyone in the bottom half. They may be pushing the top 10 close at the moment from it, but I'm going to have a tenner on them going down at 4/1. Have to have a look at an accumulator on all that happening too

Aye, me too. What I should have said was, the people who moan the most are less likely to have had any real adversity. The people that have had some adversity tend to be happier-go-lucky. I'd be interested to hear of any handicapped posters or orphaned posters or owt that are a proper miserable cunt with it.

I think it depends on past experience as much as current situation as to whether or not you can be happy with your lot. I think people that have picture perfect upbringings in comfortable circumstances with no worries, healthy families that want for nothing, are more inclined to be unsatisfied with their lot, irrespective of what job they end up in or how their relationships are panning out. Hard times earlier in life builds a bit of fortitude I think. Those people that see some actual suffering at a young age are better equipped to put work and sex life into perspective when compared to life and death situations. Could be bollocks like. Just what I observe among the people I see moaning about piffling things most around me. Not saying I have suffered or owt....but that people I've seen suffer are the happiest just to be alive, with the best sense of humour.

I'm sure it'll lead to good hearted banter, what with the famous scouse sense of humour. -

One joke in a list of genuine answers. I'm sure 99% of your readership would make similar jokes about Barton when we were putting up with that divvy, Carroll when he was punching women or Nile Ranger now. At least Gerrard won you a champions league, you can luxuriate in that fact as you take the gentle ribbing from a fan who's never seen his club lift a trophy which makes these cross forum exercises what they are. Or we could have a minutes silence for the joke. -

Both our clubs have had problems with owners in recent times, and I know Mike Ashley was a hugely unpopular figure not so long ago? Has the recent success of your side since promotion meant that the ill feeling towards him has somewhat diminished? It's not as vocal in the the stands. We all want the best for the club and if he ain't rocking the boat then we won't. Every single fan would still agree his learning curve was a gargantuan fuck up and the deceiful way he went about things will probbly nevr be forgiven. But fans at most clubs gate their chairman. That's football. St James Park? Sports Direct Arena, Wonga etc? What's going on with the name of such an iconic football stadium and how concerning has that whole issue been to fans? Do you care what the stadium is called or do you look more towards the finances that naming rights brings? Naming rights of an existing stadium have not brought in big money at any club yet. It was always a publicity stunt for sports direct. Alan Pardew, he was brought in to replace the popular Chris Hughton and like Mike Ashley, he seemed to be unpopular. From the outside looking in, he seems to have done well. What are your opinions of him now, and how would you describe your style of play? He'd never done any better at other clubs than hughton, so it was understandable the fans were confused by the appointment. He's done well enough to keep the fans happy but he seems to be struggling on choosing his preferred style and bringing in the players to fit that vision. He's still chopping and changing approach to accomodate what he has at his disposal. That was ok when we were buying him better players. But we've hit our ceiling and he doesn't seem to be allowed to spend what it takes to improve on quality where we are left wanting. Let's talk transfers. After a few years of your club having a bit of a nightmare when it came to transfers, you seemed to have done really well in recent years by acquiring very good players for seemingly small fees. Who takes the credit for this and are you worried that some of your players may leave if some Champions League clubs come knocking? Graham Carr. I don't see any reason to sell anyone, unless omeone offers daft money...like you lot for Carroll. How would you describe your season so far? Has it met expectations? Aye, we're performing pretty much as we did last season. Just had a few luckier breaks in tight games last season. Speaking of expectations, what where yours for this season? Did your success last year possibly make expectations a bit too high amongst the Geordie faithful? Don't think so. Noone thought we played particularly good football last season, and the transfer window dampened expectation if it was high. I'd like to ask you some questions about Liverpool if I may. What are your thoughts on our new manager Brendan Rodgers, the style of play he is trying to implement at Anfield and how Liverpool have started this season? Brendan Rogers to me is like Alan Partridge with more ego. Haven't watched too much of Livrpool but if he's implemented a rule like Swansea then I think its as dull as Wimbledon 88 to see 10 blokes pass it around he half way line. Andy Carroll, you sold him when he was riding the crest of a wave. After a poor start at Anfield, he seemed to finish last season strongly, and he played well for England in the summer. How do you feel Liverpool handled the situation with Andy, and what were your thoughts in the summer when he was linked with a return to Newcastle? Would have took him back for half what you paid. He'd work well alongside Ba or cisse. Seeing as you got the better end of the Carroll transfer, how about repaying the favour? Fancy buying Joe Cole? In fact, can I pay you guys to take him off our hands? Did he not do well in France? Let's concentrate on the game itself now. Are there any of our players that worry you ahead of Sunday's game? Is Gerrard allowed out on the town ahead of a game? That would worry me. How do you see the game panning out? If colocini is ok I reckon we can keep you passing around our box and keep a clean sheet. Sneaking one ourselves would be a bonus. What side would you expect Alan Pardew to pick for the game? Unchanged following the WBA win Finally, fancy making a prediction? 0-1 -
Bit disappointed with the odds for West Ham being relegated. 10/1 for a team in the top half. They've had a piss easy start though and I still think it's worth £20.
