  1. Each to their own, like. People can do what they want. Suppose its whether you're a supporter or a spectator.
  2. I've been late a few times mind, which doesn't seem as bad somehow...
  3. Be wary of articles that use quotes originating from French articles. Words can be twisted whichever way. He may well want away, but this doesn't necessarily act as proof.
  4. My view too. I don't see how booing the team off at the end will improve matters at all. The players know when they've had a poor game and they'll be many times more pissed off with a poor performance than any fan would. All it serves to do is whack the pressure up, as they'll know they're only one poor touch away from a torrent of abuse. I don't get that article though. The bloke says he doesn't understand people who leave early regardless of the score, but then left early so he could get a lift home, citing the faff on of getting out of the ground as a reason. Is this not the reason a lot of people leave early at every game - to beat the crowds? Presumably this sort of fan would have left when we were 4-0 down at home to Arsenal.
  5. Could be a deliberate ploy to divert everyone's attention while we go after our proper targets in privacy.
  6. Free Lonsdale sweatshirts for life. He couldn't resist that.
  7. To be fair, we had played another away game 3 days earlier, while they'd had a nice relaxing Christmas break, aided by a convenient Tube strike. We owe them one.
  8. Fuck me. I don't think I could be bothered with a discussion like that.
  9. On a slightly related note, I vividly remember the smell of the first Asics strip (the black and white one we debuted in the 7-1 vs Leicester). I remember going with my mam and dad to get the full strip from the old shed style club shop. I was in the club shop a couple of weeks back and noticed the retro shirts. Couldn't resist having a smell of the replica of that particular strip - it smells exactly the same as I remember.
  10. We should do that strip, but with buttons all the way down like a shirt, so we can wear it on more formal occasions.
  11. Aye, a sunny day would be nice. I have this childish ideal of the first and last games of the season being perfect, sunny days with all the players in short sleeves and a the pitch looking pristine. It's like either end of the football season bookends summer.
  12. The manner of the goal was fortunate, but we wouldn't have scored it if we'd sat back deep in our half and settled for a point. We pushed forward and attacked them, and it paid off.
  13. It may look like icing, but I wouldn't be keen on tasting it...

  15. He's obviously got a bit of an issue in motivating his players, as they can only seem to turn it on when it's do or die.
  16. Nah, he signed for Norwich permanently for £3m or £4m ish at the start of the season.
  17. I'd like to see Bassong here again too, but presumably we'd have to all but guarantee him first team football. I can't see him moving from Norwich (where he's arguably been their player of the season) to sit on our bench.
  18. One of the problems (that is made worse by the media) is that people usually look at net transfer spend as the only measure of reinvestment. We sold Carroll for £35m and we knocked £2m a season off the wage bill. Over the 5 years he had left on his contract, that's a benefit of £45m. The players we subsequently bought didn't cost £35m in transfer fees, but when you consider we signed an awful lot of players (Cabaye, Santon, Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Marveaux) who are on about £2m a year each, you realise where all the cash has gone. Problem is that it's tricky to fit this amount of detail into a typical tabloid 6 word sentence.
  19. Didn't realise just how shocking Fulham's form was. Looks like they couldn't recover from a defeat suffered at the hands of the mighty NUFC.
  20. Did anyone else think he had a mono-brow on Sunday?
