  1. The French football culture is all about moving up through the ranks. There is no shame about moving from a lesser club to a better club - loyalty doesn't come into it. But in the cold light of day, I'd be surprised if Man Utd really wanted Cabaye after the season he has just had.
  2. 9/10. Two of them were educated guesses.
  3. By "sensational" do you mean "ginger"?
  4. Wonga's 2011 accounts show write offs of £76m of loans. This is 41% of their £185m revenue. So a ridiculously high amount is written off.
  5. Fair enough point. However, the fact that SJP is covered in SD advertising would suggest we haven't had any offers worth taking from Nike etc. It'd be interesting to see how much we are potentially missing out on. Maybe £500k a year ish at a guess.
  6. That, I like. Reminds me of the strip my custom team on FIFA 96 played in.
  7. There are some horror stories and I agree that the industry should be more closely regulated. However, the vast majority of customers are using the loans for short term finance and repay in full shortly afterwards. Don't be fooled by the APR quoted. They, like any other lender, are legally obliged to state the interest in annual terms. Regardless of the fact that the vast majority of the "interest" is a loan arrangement fee, it legally has to be stated as part of the annual interest. The loan is unsecured and as such will always have high interest rates to compensate the lender for the high level of risk they take on. Horror stories aside, which hopefully will become a thing of the past, I think its better that these companies exist, if only to provide a legitimate short term facility and discourage punters from going to their local loan shark hanging around in the pub. They're not something I would hope to ever need to use mind.
  8. That's definitely not true. All cash transferred to Ashley from NUFC has corresponded exactly with a reduction in the loan balance. He hasn't drawn a salary, nor has he taken any dividends.
  9. Disclaimer that I haven't watched him in any great detail this season, so don't know if he has improved at all...
  10. To be fair, positioning is a skill that develops over time. This article is from over three years ago, so given that he's got another 3 years of experience under his belt now I would expect him to have improved.
  11. No way there's a sell on clause on the full selling price. It'll be on any profit made on the deal, which is quite clearly going to be non-existent.
  12. You know it's bad when you've lost the restroom.
  13. Not beating one of the top teams in the country (one that we have just one win against in our last 15 attempts) is not an indication that we've signed horrible people.
  14. People used to use "virtually", which is reasonable usage, given that "virtually" means "almost, but not quite". The incorrect use of "literally" also does my head in. As does the number of times I've had to use speech marks in writing this out.
  15. Paying the going rate = NUFC makes more money = NUFC repays more of Ashley's loan Makes no material difference in reality.
  16. Could be any modern video editing package - Premiere, Vegas, Final Cut, iMovie etc. It's possible in all of those packages. Do you have any experience of video editing or of graphics packages?
  17. I didn't imply you didn't go to the game - I was referring to his reputation amongst those who never get to any games for one reason or another. Did you also see the 50/50 he flew into as the last man, after sprinting 40 yards to meet Walcott in the second half? That doesn't strike me as someone weak in the tackle. As I said before, much of his strength is in his positioning, which often negates the need to dive into challenges.
  18. But he's not piss poor at defending. His positional awareness is very good, meaning the opposition will quite often choose a different pass. Stuff like this is possibly why he has a poor reputation from those who only ever see us on TV, as it'll never be picked up by the cameras.
  19. You're only as good as your latest generation. It all becomes obsolete in 2-4 years. A combination of the rise of the rivals and the stagnation of Microsoft has clearly meant people have had more appealing options than Microsoft when it came to replacing obsolete kit. Some drop though!
  20. And lots of people have plenty of technical ability, but if they don't work hard, they are useless.
