He said he left to win trophies. We're not going to win trophies. He wants to win league titles and Champions League titles and with the disparity in the Premiership, that's not going to happen with us. The league titles over the last 18 years have gone to Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, with Man City joining the party after spending the best part of half a billion quid. Unless he joins one of those clubs, there's no chance of winning trophies in England. I don't think he's talking about a one off League Cup win.

Season Ticket Renewal/Apathy - £25 Half Season tickets
BigWalrus replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
It was also when we had a much smaller stadium. Although we used to frequently sell out, it was always easy enough to get a ticket for any individual game. -
They don't have an agenda against us, they're just shit. Cabaye and Tiote have both got away with several dodgy tackles, Colo too.

No idea who this fella is, but he thinks we'll sign a creative midfielder tomorrow: http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/30/newcastle-uniteds-magnificent-management-of-yohan-cabaye-transfer-buys-time-to-find-creative-replacement-4282691/

You sure you can get away with trousers that long?

Tomorrow is another day. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Admittedly, probably no more than Joe Kinnear having a danger wank into his half empty coffee mug.

We did 5 nights in Venice in November. Nowt like real Italy, it's just wall to wall tourism and price fixing. For somewhere with so much history and cultural significance, it really lacks any sort of heartbeat. We ended up getting the train out to Verona for a day, which is an infinitely nicer place. Good fun pissing about on the water taxis though, which have stations with the same colour scheme as the metro.

Aye, can't disagree with any of that. It's one of those that if the ref (or linesman) sees, it's only going to go one way.
-
Aye I remember the incident, and the bastard scored shortly afterwards too.

He has no redeeming features whatsoever. He is the only manager we've had where I've wanted to see the back of him from the minute he arrived. Never been as miserable as a fan as when he was in charge.
-
"Finally, the conditions of his departure did not create a favorable environment to flourish. Clement would have arrived at Newcastle, not as Clément Grenier, but as a substitute Yohan Cabaye." Aww bless, poor bairn. Bliddy agents.
-
They don't say that specifically, but how do you draw the line? How hard does he have to move his head towards another player's to be deemed worthy of violent conduct and therefore a red? It's not as if this is the first soft headbutt we've seen given a straight red. Remy knew the crack and should have just backed away.
-
Remy moved his head towards Johnson's and made contact. That makes his a red. Because there was contact made, there can be no charge of simulation (that's what the rules say). All of this appeal fuss detracts away from the fact that Remy was stupid and should have stepped away.
-
I reckon his value would be unlikely to increase if he sulked his way through the remainder of the season. It's also not too healthy to have players sat on the bench watching a player start who doesn't even want to be here. All this is hypothetical though, who knows?
-
Had we signed him first, PSG would have dropped their offer for Cabaye and we'd be left with a cash shortfall. We'd then either have to sell Cabaye for less or keep a wantaway player.
-
So Johnson doesn't even get a yellow, for starting a fight. He didn't even get a yellow for raking his studs down Debuchy either. Meh. What's done is done. The stage is set for De Jong.
-
If it means we can afford another player, then I'm all for it.

Season Ticket Renewal/Apathy - £25 Half Season tickets

There used to be an incentive to commit when tickets were so hard to get hold of. But now, its piss easy to buy them match by match, and much more flexible. I ditched my ST this year and have missed about 4 games - enough to make it more economical. -

No need to have a season ticket - just buy individual tickets. If you're away one weekend or have other plans on a Wednesday evening, then you're not trying to sell your ticket for a cut price. -
That's how you get ripped off! Nowt against upping the bid, but its bad form to just bend over and give them what they want.

What's Roy Hodgson getting involved for?

Looks like it's a front to sell this: http://examine.com/store/reference/

It'll be perfectly safe if it's done in a bag, as the steam keeps the temperature even. Cooking it without the bag would be risky though.

If he likes it mushy though, that's his choice. I personally like it a bit more firm, but I know a few people who like it well done.

Phil Dowd is the referee. He was the referee for the 5-1 game.
