  1. Re: Allardyce in talks Who are Sunderland going to turn to now (or rather as soon as Moyesy walks)? Oh dear! edit; hang on a sec... they could go for Pardew! Knows the area etc and got Newcastle to fifth and Palace to a final, you know.
  2. 3 of us Toontastic lads could produce better penalty taking than that.
  3. Also thought Sels was decent (not that he had to do much) but whilst the defending was terrible (should never ever concede a goal immediately after you score one, Rafa will have been fuming about that), he absolutely has to shoulder the blame for their goal. Should have never palmed it out like that. Horrendous keeping. Really want to give him a chance but he'll never make it at the club if he keeps on making mistakes like that. Frankly Rafa should have started with Darlow.
  4. Captain obvious here, but I'd rather have lost that in 90 minutes than via penalties. Not only is morale going to be low, now our players are going to be shattered and we play on Friday for fuck's sake. Not sure Hull fans really care yet they're the ones going home (or rather, they're all at home anyway) tonight happy because they've come away with a win from a game they were dreadful in. Absolutely should have beaten these, they're destined for the Championship and frankly we've played better sides in this league than them this season.
  5. One positive was Lazaar. He made a few mistakes (bad clearances, couple of tackles, misplaced passes) but on the whole I was impressed. Really grew in confidence and was unlucky not to score.
  6. Can't believe we wasted such a good chance to get to a cup semi final. Thought Hull were absolutely terrible; some decent finishing from our lot, better defending/keeping/game management for their equaliser and some belief in the shootout and we'd have gotten through with ease. Once they were down to 10 we really should have done more, even if they parked the bus. So disappointed.
  7. Yup, but then we've had weekends here and there where results have gone our way (ours and theirs) too. Cliche, but in part it's just been 'one of those days'. In isolation it's not a huge deal, if it heralds a poor run of form then that'll be more worrying. In truth I half expected our league cup run to cause us difficulties, and having the Forest game so soon after the Hull match has made it an even more awkward week for Rafa to control. I'd have been extremely impressed if we'd have managed to get 6 points and a semi final spot in less than a week.
  8. Not like me to put a negative spin on things but we need to be winning the games we've got before Shelvey gets a long ban, not losing them.
  9. Not sure it'll be worth it, can't help but think he won't have the best state of mind.
  10. Definitely should bring in another winger in January now. That and another (non African Cup of Nations eligible) creative midfielder. Then we're sorted, regardless of the Cup of Nations
  11. Of all the players, man. The one we can't replace like for like.
  12. In some ways a result like this is more satisfying then smashing a team 6-0. Winning despite playing badly, missing your main striker, against one of the most in form clubs in the league, and off the back of a 6-0 win against them where a) they'd be more up for today's match than they would have been otherwise, and b ) we could be slightly forgiven for being a bit complacent. Superb stuff.
