  1. I'm not blaming anyone or wanting to punish anyone, and don't have any solutions. It is part of the generational divide issue we've talked about loads. Part of the solution imo is to impose much more strict inheritance tax and get that money back in the economy. But it's politically unpopular because for some bizarre reason people prefer paying taxes on the work they do.
  2. Aye, but I'd live there permanently, not a second home.
  3. In a way it's worse but the magnitude is far, far less (maybe 20 fold less of an issue). Mainly effects large city centres, especially London, I think.
  4. Why do you need a 4 bedroom house for 2 people when you're retired. I mean obviously it's up to you, but it's an example of the demographic time bomb we have have with millions of young families and singles/couples not being able to afford any space. Not sure what the solution is but when the time comes I'm downsizing to some amazing location personally.
  5. I do agree with a lot of his tax proposals. Labour are already nationalising or quasi nationalising some utilities if it is practical. It often isn't, and isn't always desirable. The Green party are idelogically driven, for instance their absurd anti-nuclear stance in the era of climate change. I genuinely think their immigration stance also makes them unelectable, whether you agree with it or not. The best you could hope for is the death of the Labour party and a Corbynesque failure paving the way for Farage. That's the last thing I want.
  6. I think Corbyns pledges were highly likely to be unaffordable. I agree Labour are looking fucked. Hold on, listening to that interview, Polanski says he would work with Putin but not Starmer! Honestly, I really don't like him at all.
  7. Watching it now. Hopelessly naive regarding nuclear deterrent and his poppy choice proves he's a mackem. 👍
  8. The whole point of a populist though is to gain power by promising whatever people in their demographic groups want to hear. You won't hear anything about trade offs or the practicalities of economic reality. Also, when Labour have come to power they're effectively ham strung by the markets and their own left. Populists, who aim for broad heterogeneous appeal even more, would be even more incoherent imo. When has any good come from a populist?
  9. It's usually false hope tbh, it was with Corbyn imo. Not so much for Mumdani because his mayoral pledges are actually quite modest and localised.
  10. Not that one, Ive heard him talk several times and am aware of his policies. I mean, he is a self confirmed populist though. Says some odd stuff, like this. Good luck with that.
  11. Read an interesting stat yesterday regarding the housing crisis. Apparently >90% of people aged >65 years live with a partner only or alone. There are an estimated TEN MILLION spare bed rooms associated with this cohort.
  12. He's a popularist. People should be wary of them on either side of the divide imo. I think it's quite unlikely the Greens will usurp or replace Labour, especially with his immigration stance, so really Farage is rubbing his hands together. I fully understand the reservations people have regarding legacy parties, but fuck me the popularists scare me much more.
  13. It's the flag from Epstein Island.
  14. I find him kind of inspirational. A figure from my youth who seemed old enough at the time still presenting now. Funny enough my wife got him mixed up with John Noakes (RIP) which got me down a rabbit hole regarding him. Sit down while I tell you this. HE NEVER OWNED SHEP. He actually gave Shep away when the BBC refused to continue paying for his upkeep after he left the show. Then he did some advertising for dog food with a Shep lookalike. Makes you think.
  15. Professional levels of contrariness here. Hope you had a good graduation.
  16. Seem to have lost the plan A too at the moment. We've got two players or more in every position when fit now haven't we? So Howe needs to use the squad a lot better.
  17. The issue isn't with Woltemade. He was literally our only available striker today. Saying I told you so based on that is ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as Howe's substitutions today though, which is the issue. It was horribly predictable. Howe has still got loads in the bank for me but today he made a canny big withdrawal. It was an abject managerial display and I love the bloke.
  18. Luckily all the fuckers below us lost. We are now looking down rather than up like.
  19. I don't want Howe out but for the very first time I am having doubts. Awful two away matches but then I think I need some perspective too. Need to regroup.
  20. Ironically seem to be playing a bit better with 10 and forced subs. If Howe had done this when he should have.....
