  1. Positive nihilism. I've recently got into Cosmology in quite a big way, I'l always regret that I didn't have the brains to do astrophysics for a living. Anyway, the scale of the Universe is just utterly ridiculous, moreso than I expect most of us can imagine. We are just carbon based organisms with a bit of sentience and capacity to feel pain and pleasure. The problem I have is just my neurological wiring and upbringing predisposes me to anxiety. We are an utter irrelevance in the grand scheme of things.
  2. Trying to work this out. If that's true, aren't you driving on the wrong side of the road????
  3. Not much. I'm fortunate to be Gen X so have managed to acquire some wealth with which to see me through to old age, hopefully. But then I see what the millenials and Gen Z need to contend with, including my kids, and I honestly despair. Like everything else in my life at the moment, I am just firefighting, trying to solve problems one at a time as they develop. But things can change unexpectedly for the good as well as the bad so you never know. Although I do admit I will really, really enjoy the GE night if it goes as expected. May elections with Ben Houchen hopefully getting the boot is the aperitif.
  4. Couldn't agree more with Gaza and CLimate change. We should do our bit within the remit we are now an irrelevance internationally. Losing our sense of exceptualism is key, ironically I think the tories have expedited this through the disaster of Brexit. I honestly don't think we disagree that much politically, we just see it from different angles. For me, getting the tories out of power for a generation is simply the most important thing. Got to stop the mad man knifing me before I think about healing the wounds. There are arguments somehow if Labour need to form a coalition, particularly with the LDs, this could facilitate a route to PR. This seems extremely unlikely to me now. More likely I think, if the conservatives face near wipe out and Reform do not win a single seat with say 15% of the vote, ironically this may encourage these parties to adopt a PR stance and put more pressure on Labour. Who knows, but until this issue is sorted I don't see us getting the stability for long-term changes we need in this country regarding issues like climate change.
  5. This is like worrying about where Newcastle's second goal will come from in the next match we're playing, when we are 9-0 up in the current game. We have absolutely no idea what the political landscape will be after the next GE, yet before Labour have even taken power, some on here are desperate for them to fail. The truth with all political parties - highlighted most acutely by the conservative party today - is that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. How do you appease these "young urban voters" who are more bothered about Gaza and the environment at the same time as the soft tory vote who have different concerns and priorites? You need both to win a GE. It just highlights the need for PR really so NJS and Rayvin can vote with a prty who align with their beliefs and their vote counts. That's my biggest disappointment with Starmer so far, now seems a great opportunity to grab the nettle.
  6. Am I allowed to say he lived longer than he deserved?
  7. Would you like to have some free food at a restaurant? Yes? Great, here's 2 million quid. This dippit cunt should be in prision.
  8. Haven't seen it yet. My guess is giving the storyline so far the ending will relate to the ending of Seinfeld, which was undoubtedly and undeniably a great ending. Have you got a favourite Curb episode now it's finished?
  9. Moving offices shortly and there was a vote on what to name the three meeting rooms. I offered: Patterson Osbourne Hope Genius if I do say so myself. Nobody got the reference, and worse still, nobody had watched the programme. I am so old at this place. Now the rooms have suitably beige names.
  10. I can't stop looking at this gif several days later. A video shot from the pov of two pussies. Oh my.
  11. Hopefully he'll get a literal golden parachute to use.
  12. Yeah, that's definitely going to work. Sunak will agree immediately and our 0.0001% contribution to the Israeli military will halt them in their tracks. And there definitely won't be a right wing media shit storm attack on Labour as a result, which will boost the tories chances in the GE. Starmer can do fuck all about it, but you just want him to take the hit anyway.
  13. This is exactly how I feel. "Alright Starmer mate, why don't you stop Netanyahu’s slaughter of the innocent in Gaza". It's fucking pathetic. Why aren't they doing this outside Sunak's Richmond mansion anyway? I remember once having a relatively high brow discussion with one of my mate's Dads once about some political issue of the time. His wife joined in the conversation by saying something as uselessy anodyne as "Why can't all the leaders of the World shake hands and have peace?". We both looked at each other and burst out laughing. On reflection, it might have been the start of their divorce process which happened a year later and their son's descent into drug abuse. Oh well, that's where good intentions get you.
  14. Are you suggesting pension funds are invested in cryptocurrency? That might explain the abysmal performance of mine I suppose.
  15. Kinear was a symptom of the Ashely regime, not the cause, true. But when you're coughing your lungs up because you've contracted covid, or when you've shit your trousers because you have a dose of noravirus, you tend to hate the symptom too.
  16. What about their mortal enemies, Red Mezze? Greeks and Turks are like the Vulcans and Romulans, hate each other but the food is similar enough isn't it?
  17. Every pavement corner should have a sign saying "No cycling on the pavement, you Wiggin cunts" too. 👍
  18. Trading in made up numbers. Doesn't seem to be a job which will have any societal benefits at all. I mean, you can see the benefits to people in taxiing, selling novelty mugs, and even selling sofas, but this? Not so much. Do you pay tax on this type of gig?
  19. Sorry, can't feel sorry about his death, couldn't stand him. BBC1 just stated he had a "successful managerial career at Wimbledon and Newcastle". Aye, that's right then. Lived longer than he deserved.
  20. Battle of the cunts, German Klopp vs. Dutch man Ten Hag (and did I see Shteve McClaren there as assistant)? Needs must though and hope Klopp ends up Fist pumping at the end.
