  1. Out of interest, will you be watching and enjoying the GE? Having a cheer at each Portillo moment? I certainly will. Make no bones about it, getting rid of the tories, maybe for a generation or even forever, means more to me than getting the current Labour party elected. Once it happens, we can take it from there.
  2. Pedant, it's the principle, innit. If the hut had adopted PR, it would be painted in stripes.
  3. Fair enough, I see your point but I do think you owe them the benefit of the doubt. Judge them on their actions after they are in a position to enact those actions, not before in some imagined future reality. UK politics with FPTP is always about compromise. That's democracy Dennis.
  4. He's clearly a sitter. Good man.
  5. I did a fair bit of volunteer work for Labour in '97 and before. In all honesty I think the motivations were to improve the average person's lot in life. That was probably what my tory equivalents believed then too. It's different now on their side. That's one reason they have no volunteers. Leaflets galore, delivered through the post or by a contractor, paid for by cunts like Hester. And people can't see the difference or think it's worth discriminating between the options? Sheesh
  6. Not incentivised to improve people's lives? Even if you're massively cynical of all politicians (and I challenge you to look at Starmers bio and come to the conclusion his motivations are insincere), it makes sense to do this. Otherwise, you end up like the Tories this time round, especially when you have no client media on your side. What do you think motivates the labour party leadership?
  7. I'd expect the fiscal rules to be subject to some creative accounting once Labour are in power. Capital investment on infrastructure projects for instance. We're never becoming a Nordic socialist style democracy in this country (as much as we would like it), just like the US is never getting anywhere close to becoming like the UK, but we can do a fuck of a lot better than this, starting with closer movement towards the EU (which is the lowest hanging fruit when it comes to growth).
  8. If this happened I'd piss myself laughing btw. Not only at tory annihilation, but showing what a fucking farce FTP is when 9% for the LDs gets them 49 seats (up 41 from 2019 when they got 11.8% of the vote) and much as I hate them, Reform get 15% and get - checks notes - zero seats.
  9. LD's as official opposition, according to the latest poll. This would be a sad day for Rayvin, NJS, and Owen Jones. I can't wait.
  10. Far to the right is a stretch like. Rayner, Cooper, Reeves, Phillipson, Miliband, Lammy, all right wing loons. It's not about ideology for me, it's about pragmatism. But aye, you thought Blair were the same as the tories back in the day, and you're being consistent I guess. Me personally, I'm looking forward to things getting better, to coin the greeat Brian Cox.
  11. We've been through this before, they're not going to announce policies the tories will steal or get their client media to attack. Look what happened with Phillipson's childcare plans, windfall tax, or the Nom Dom tax status just last week. In reality though, doesn't matter what they do because they will never match your Corbynite dream, I'm not arsed rehearsing the New Labour arguments again but I'm willing to bet most on this board thought the country was immeasurably better then.
  12. Don't baguette this line of half-baked bunnery is finished.
  13. Really? I mean, you don't think booting the current bunch of useless cunts out (surely the worst government in remembered history) and replacing them with at the very least less odious and more competent cunts* won't improve things? I find that either mind boggling or more likely just completely insincere and contrary on your part. * For the avoidance of doubt, I do not believe the shadow cabinet are remotely cunts. I believe they are politically savvy and staying quiet and uncontroversial whilst handing out the hanging rope to the tories. An example was yesterday, Starmer directly attacked the Rwanda policy in PMQs. He knows now is the time to do it, because it is no longer a political win for the tories under any useful demographic. This is how it will be until the GE is announced.
  14. It's disgusting unevidenced comment from the "party of common sense". If we're going to allow anecdotes here I know many people personally who can no longer cope due to a combination of poor access to healthcare, the Americanisation of work practices, detioration of schools and the impact of this on the their kids, and the cost of living crisis. All of which the government are responsible for. Instead of adressing these issues (and many others beside), Stride impies people with MH issues are malingerers, no doubt aided and abetted by woke GPs. Just fuck off you cunt.
  15. These cunts can't help themselves with the culture war. It's doing them no favours. I am sure Stride has good data to back these very specific figures up.
  16. Jut rooted through my cupboard, found a single test 2 months out of date, one of the first generation ones where you had to swab your throat as well making you want to gag. Negative. We were talking at work the other day, did Covid really happen? All those bizarre rules etc, seems like a dream now. I remember one day we wanted to go out for a meal, we were staying in Berwick. At the time, Northern England was in lock down but Scotland wasn't, so we hopped over the border to a pub in Paxton and had Sunday Lunch. But the rules there were you were only allowed to drink alcohol outside, but you could have food and soft drinks inside. So had a pint outside, a Sunday dinner and soft drink inside, then another pint outside. The real irony is I couldn't even afford that nowadays.
  17. Top tip for anybody who does proofing or editing as part of their job (and no, clearly I don't do this on this board). Get MS Word to read your text back to you, especially in the Lara Croft voice. You'll notice much more errors than just reading it again, and if you're turned on by Lara Croft, you can have a wank too. 👍
  18. I've got my first cold since 2019. Headache, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, sinusitis, phlegm, insomnia, feel like crap. I used to get this 3 or 4 times a year and have comletely forgotten how shit this is. Thank fuck for working from home.
  19. On the positive side, he'll be like a new signing when or if he does come back....
  20. I don't even understand their advertising any more. Perhaps I'm not down with the kids.
  21. What working person thinks this is a bad thing? Would you rather vote for a party that is suipported by organisations whose primary purpose is the welfare and benefit of their work force, or dodgy company management and shareholders whose interest is to profit from the workers? This shit simply won't wash any more. The tories trajectory is one way - down. Hopefully a wipe out in the May council elections will demoralise their base network even further, may force Sunak out. By autumn the resentment is just off the scale. A positive Labour manifesto (I do believe this will happen) will be the final nail in the coffin.
  22. In other news, Sunak is plumbing depths that even Truss didn't reach.
  23. I wouldn't wish teaching in a secondary school in Stoke on anyone. Well okay, I'd wish it on Gullis.
  24. I've got a Samsung fridge freezer I get my potable water from which has a filter. My kettle also has a filter. These are probably pointless but have paid for themselves now as I can feel smug compared with you.
