Thats the spirit. None of this doom and gloom. Liverpool in the semi's too if I have my way. Knock the competition out before the final. 97930 then lose at cardiff to bolton. a spectacular failure would be SO newcastle. 97964 Shearer to miss vital penalty in shootout tbh.

Sheesh, am I the only one who believes that a Roddenberryesque utopia is possible? Doe saying this make me an ubergeeknerd?

I think people who are unneccessarily cruel to animals are scum. Mark me down as a looney 97913 Already there, in full Nazi regalia tbh. 97961 Hitler was a veggie animal lover: FACT.

Renton? Comments? 97944 Renton is seething 97948 I was never an original Star Trek man anyway, Next Gen is where it's at. Shatner is fat tone deaf tosser: FACT.

Blatantly filling his pants tbh Must have heard all the media stuff about us being a great cup team. 97884 Apparently we're the only team other than Arsenal to have beaten Chelsea in the cup in the last 7 years. 97890 That must mean Arsenal have beaten them every year between 2001 and 2004 then, otherwise they would have won the cup I guess?
-
I'm not sure you can compare an "animal rights nutter" with your average Joe Muslim mind. Mind, many of the muslims that have since found to be terrorists who comitted mass murder appeared to be very nice chaps to those that knew them.
-
It's the worst possible draw though isn't it?
-
At home, against 7 men in the end....
-
We don't have particularly bad luck, this proves luck evens itself out in the end. Thing is, with no replay, we actually have to win (as we will never win a penalty shoot out in a competitive match). Bollocks.
-
To be fair, haven't we already had more than our fair share of luck this year in the FA cup?
-
Again I agree however the motive is irrelevant, if a person is willing to kill or maim another because of their beliefs then thats terrorism, in the case of the story I linked, these Animal Rights people are willing to kill or maim young people not because of what they believe but because they are somehow linked to an organisation that has a small part of it involved in something these people disagree with. To hate someone enough to want to kill them because they are different to you is a terrible thing, to do it because they have a link to someone or thing you disagree with is even worse. 97674 I tend to agree with this. There are actually close similarities between animal rights extremists and islamic fundamentalists. Not least because they tend to be hypocrites. In the case of islamic fundamentalists, they are seemingly happy to abuse the freedom of speech they proclaim to hate. And how many animal rights activists avoid the use of ALL animal products or drugs that have been tested on animals - not many I bet. Both groups also want to fundamentally change the way we live against the majority's wishes. The amount of people each group have killed is fairly irrelevant when we are talking about individuals who are prepared to kill people for their cause. The animal rights activists try and justify their actions by targeting scientists (like myself if I had chosen a different career path), but increasingly they will target anyone who deals with scientists or the family of scientists. Al Queda etc of course will consider everyone a legitimate target. This makes them more dangerous (particularly as they are willing to kill themselves in the process), but on a moral level, I find both groups equally reprehensible. So to summarize, terrorists are scum no matter what the cause imo. In a civilised society the ends do not always justify the means, especially when the majority do not even support your ends.

I've had that feeling before. Incidentally, when Ferguson said it was the worst injury he had ever seen, was he just talking about in his team, or has he forgotten about David Busst?
-
A bit premature here but the semis will probably be at Old Trafford won't they?
-
Aye, I can see your point, maybe I'm just a bit too old and cynical. One thing I would say though is that with the exception of the last useless incumbent, FS probably has got the managers most the fans wanted. Certainly, I fully supported Dalglish and Robson, and whilst I had major reservations about Gullit, I can see he was the fans choice. Btw, I can see I sound a bit like Leazes Mag/NE5 there, but the difference is I think Shepherd has shown his gross incompetence in too many other areas to justify his position now. Nothing the bloated moron says now surprise me, although I have to admit I do find his latest ramblings a little, erm, strange, to say the least.

Do you not understand that people might be upset when after a lot of effort, a twat of a chairman shows a lack of respect for supporters who want the best for the club, an absolute ignorance of the interests of many who contribute to his wages, and who effectively calls them criminals? No doubt he cannot be done for slander, but he is demonstrably a fuckmuppet in charge of the club. Funny as fuck that like. 97713 I think its fucking hilarious ! do these people take themselves SO seriously that they think they can impose their opinion on others ? OK, they've had their 30 seconds of fame, and 10 out of 10 for effort, but its just gone mad ! I think it shows the hight of arrogance and self importance to think that anyone is going to lose any sleep over the fact that their campaign has been dismissed by the chairman, and probably by Hitzfeld himself ! Time to get a fucking grip ! 97715 Bullshit. Arrogance would be if if people were demanding an appointment because they think they know better. I don't see any arrogance here. A group of fans, whether they happend to enjoy their media success or not (and I think most if not all were fairly modest in their ability to influence, and had every right to be happy when they started getting noticed) have been shat upon. They have every right to be angry and every right to question whether a club they have supported and invested in emotionally gives a tuppeny shit about them. The only person you should be telling to get a grip is the cocking twatbungie Shepherd. 97716 That same group of fans have pissed off quite a lot of other fans too though by purporting to represent just about ALL Newcastle fans on occasion. They don't and never did - something they would have done well to remember. Not only that but a few of them also wrote articles etc that I suspect might have damaged our chances of getting another high quality manager in such as O'Neill. Well, it is time perhaps for them to get a grip, they seem to have become completely lost in their own self importance. For instance, I have no idea what Shepherd is talking about with his betting ring stuff - maybe he has his own motives - or maybe he is just plain stupid. But I don't have to be a solicitor to know there is NO (no pun intended) chance he can be sued for libel unless he named specific individuals. But no doubt some of the fantasists imagine there will be some great court case to arise from this...... The best thing that can be done now is to stop the campaign gracefully. Frankly, it's getting plain embarassing. Somehow I bet that won't happen though. 97718 I agree that anyone who goes overboard about a candidate or professes to speak for all fans is to caught up in their fervour and can cause resentment. To be honest though at its height the Chronicle only got 400 emails, so I think it was also the anti-campaigners who were going overboard saying how damaging they were being. Roll your eyes as much as you want but after the first two nights of your on sky sport (no calls, just texts) and maybe two calls on three legends what kind of abuse of the media are you talking about. What kind of prolonged arrogant campaign is that? As I said a couple of posts above, no doubt he cannot be done for anything other than being an idiot, but I don't begrudge anyone for feeling insulted enough to suggest the idea. Selectively targeting emails (after an initial random flurry admittedly, no one had done this before) and a well writen dossier is nothing to be embarrassed, and certainly not something criminal as the wankmutt Shepherd is suggesting. 97721 Fair enough Bottle, I don't agree with you fully on all these matters (for instance I don't think the "dossier" was particularly well written), but the important question is what do the campaigners want to do now? I can see why some of them might be a bit pissed with the situation, but the response now will be very telling on whether the intentions really were to raise awarenwess about Hitzfeld, or if it really has just been an ego trip. We'll see.

Fucking hell Let that be a warning to everyone: please don't post anything from the papers unless you actually witnessed the incident first hand and can therefore confirm that it happened. 97510 Whatever. I'm just not sure what the point of your original post was, that's all. Was it that Liverpool fans are specifically low-life, or that Alan Smith has suffered a nasty leg injury? Or was it taking the piss out of injured players, acceptable or not? 97515 It was to highlight the fact there was a contingent of dickhead fans at the Liverpool vs Man Utd game yesterday. Is that okay with you? 97516 Yes thanks. Edit: PS (see sig)

By me? Then yes it would. Accompanied by the fact I was disgusted and ashamed. Several times when I've been to Old Trafford I've seen a dickhead contingent of our fans doing the Munich aeroplane thing and thinking they're hilarious, and I was disgusted by that too. 97381 I could understand you posting this if it was from personal experience, but it isn't, it's from the gutter press who imo tend to have an agenda against football fans, especially Northern ones. As Isegrim has said, it's the generalisation that I don't like, and I'm not convinced it even happened in this case (certainly couldn't hear it on the telly). We've all been there and seen it though. An opposition player goes down, and quite frankly no one watching the match (from the stands) can really know how serious it is, but that doesn't stop a lot of people from shouting things like "get up you lazy bastard" (if we're winning, or "fucking cheat" if we're losing). It's part and parcel of going to a football match; I don't think anyone should take it too seriously or personally, and I certainly don't want the game to get any more sanitized than it already is.
-
I've heard this type of thing from our own fans often enough, rarely do I go to a game and someone isn't shouting "snap him" or the like. I wonder if this story would have been so quickly posted on here in this way if it was our fans that were accused of it?

Was I imagining it or did Given not pass it straight to one of their players in the first half? Just suprised Taylor27 didn't jump on that like. Fwiw I think Given is a very good keeper, especially at stopping shots, but perhaps not quite as world class as some make out, which is why he hasn't gone to a bigger club imo. He is prone to errors in his distribution and in his positional judgement (iirc this was illustrated twice against Pompey). Also, he doesn't seem to be able to command the back 4 well - and this may be a real problem. Still, he has saved our bacon countless times recently and we will not easily get a superior replacement.
-
Was there one from HTL pertaining to be Freddie Shepherd? Must have been deleted. I thought it was quite funny personally.
-
Evidently. I just think people like him have a habit of fucking things up for themselves. 96315 The funniest thing about the whole campaign were his Biblical instructions, especially not to debate the matter with non-believers. Don't debate the next manager of the Toon on a NUFC message board. FFS! 96319 He really should have put that thread on a private forum - now that post was embarassing.
-
And his weekly bath. Shit: on Fridays only, I meant.
-
Yes, but increasingly he's getting the attention he craves and it's going to make him worse unfortunately.
