That is so true, hope I'm not accused of brown-nosing though.

I used to get it after a Saturday home match if I was staying out in Newcastle, but only if we'd won..... Which ended up being about 3 times a year maximum.

Depends. Are you a masochist?

It's worth pointing out that Lewis wrote a prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, called the Magician's nephew. This might explain the nature of Narnia and "deep magic" somewhat. Having said that though, it isn't much cop if you aren't a kid. The later stories are much more your standard fantasy tales and are all the better for it imo. The last book though, called the last battle, is basically a christian jizz fest. It depicts armageddon, and Susan goes to hell for not "believing" in Narnia any more...... 69322 69324 *SPOILERS* (Sorry Gejon, I'd be amazed if they made a film of the last book mind) Did you not see that that the death of Aslan was basically the crucifixion of Christ?

Just seen it and have come to the conclusion that your opinion is bizarre to say the least. It is utterly faithful to the book in much the same way Lord of the Rings was. As such I would say the film is almost beyond criticism. I also completely disagree with your assertion of the acting and CGI, the latter of which I thought was remarkable. As for it being slow moving and a kids film, well yes, what the hell did you expect? A bit like saying the LotR is about hobbits and elves really. At the end of the day Narnia does what it says it will, and is a good nostalgic trip for adults who read the book as a kid, and a brilliant film for kids who haven't read the book. 69293 Kids films can still be entertaining for adults - see Toy Story, Shrek, most Disney films are watchable at least. If kids enjoy this film then good for them - I didn't. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more had I read the book, but again this doesn't have to be a neccessity - I enjoyed the LotR films despite not reading the books first. Being a kids film based on a book does not excuse it from being shite! 69306 CS Lewis was virtually compulsory reading when I was a kid, before you graduated to Tolkein! I think you are really criticizing the book in this instance and not the film: perhaps middle class Edwardian fairy tales loosely based on christian allegory are not your thing. I understand they are planning to make the entire Narnia series - at least the other books were far superior to tLtWatW, imo tbh of course.

Your Graeme is a jammy bastard alright. If Liverpool, Aresnal, ManU or Chelsea had had any sense and went for Owen, he'd be out of a job and we'd be staring possible relegation in the face. But fortunately for him (and us) those other clubs didn't. The rest of our season hangs completely on this man-boy. Imagine the player he would be if it wasn't for his injury problems. A bit like Woodgate really, although he's not that bad.
-
I thought you had a steady g/f?
-
It does show the impotance of Owen though. We need him to win games, there is no doubt about that. Pity he is so injury prone...... Superb result, next week a bigger test against Liverpool awaits us.

The Riverside was probably the best music venue Newcastle has ever seen, brings back memories. Fuck me, I first saw MS and the Daintees 17 years ago! 68958 The Riverside and the Mayfair were both good venues like, a shame both are no longer with us. 68960 Saw MS an the Daintees at the riverside many many moons ago.....took me mate with me who thought it was a "proper nightclub" and turned up in pink mini skirt and white stilletos.....had to hide from her all night... 68966

Fluke tbh, it was a crap first post! Can anyone be arsed to organise this then? I know I can't.
-
This'll be the Arsenal that have lost 5, drawn 2, and only won one away this year. 1-1 with the Hammers I reckon, or maybe 2-1 to them. Is Owen fit?
-
Well I guess from youir user name you might be a bit of a fan of Prefab Sprout I've seen them a few times and would say they were just OK, but its all personal preference at the end of the day.

Who? 68883 You're joking, right? It's not as if Tyne and Wear have had a lot of musical acts. You would have only been about 13 at the time, but have you never heard of the album "Boat to Bolivia"? 68947 Never heard of them mate. 68950 You're one of the few that I thought would, what with your eclectic and encyclopaedic musical knowledge. They were from Washington (mackems) and on the same label as Prefab Sprout (Who? ), famed for their Christmas gigs at the Riverside (Where? ). Prefab Sprout became semi-famous, whereas the Daintees didn't, despite being far superior. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? NJS?

As good as the original?
-
Howay man, even we beat Leverkusen so that's nowt to shout about... 68864 Aye, but Juventus, Chelsea and Milan. Credit where it's due I reckon.

I thought you did, hence I'm not bothering. If you can drag and drop music files, I'd be interested. Have they fixed the screen yet? 68856 If you want to drag and drop music on to an ipod for it to play, you need a program called Anapod explorer, if you drag and drop music into an ipod without it, it won't be able to play them, but dragging and dropping files to use as storage should be ok. I think ! 68860 Unfortunately a lot of my music seems to be in WMA format though - are these easy to convert without loss of quality?
-
He's either; a) taking the piss b ) never watched us since 1996 c) arse licking his mate AGAIN 68813 All three tbh. 68819 Agreed. He's a complete cunt.

I saw Martin Stephenson and the Daintees last night for old times sake. Anybody who's over 30 and from Tyne and Wear should know who I'm talking about. They're pretty good musicians really and it's a bit surprising they didn't go further. Martin Stephenson is either the happiest bloke on the planet or is permanently on drugs, or both - he never stops smiling, it's as if his mouth is stuck in that position. They're playing at the Cluny tonight if any old timers fancy a blast from the past.

Who entered that by the way? 68847 Did newcastle not? 68853 Yes, but we still didn't get into Europe. The Champion's league is over rated anyway.
