  1. He needed to break the losing streak regardless of progression. Two difficult league games next for Liverpool, could easily go 7 consecutive losses. Even we haven't done that in a decade.
  2. Eat less move more is spot on though, with the clarification of eat well (avoid sugar, too much salt and fat). The problem is sticking to this. Because processed foods make you more hungry, and a lot of people find it hard to exercise or get the time to do so. Also, I think the impact of body metabolism is huge. Like I said, I just hit a wall regarding weight loss. Also, when you are young you can eat and drink what you loke, but once you hit 40, game over. And 50 is even worse.
  3. 'Look it up', is this the new 'do your own research?'. You will find out what you want to back up your own prejudices. Nutritional science is not very well developed tbh, but it is complex. Plenty of people eat regularly and are very healthy. I hope we can all agree it's what you eat, how much you eat, and how much exercise you do that are the most important factors, in that order probably.
  4. You've literally said before it's calories in and calories out. So if you eat more calories then you gain weight, full stop. 8000 calories is 1 Kg. So say you have a weekend where you have a couple of fry ups, big evening meals, you can easily out half a kilo on which you then need to shift. If you drink beer it's very easy to fuck this up over a single weekend. Of course there is the background noise of fluid retention etc, but from my experience you gave to be very disciplined and it's not much fun.
  5. For me it absolutely does. The scales dont lie. Admittedly usually talking about a weekend off though. As for holidays.....
  6. Well, you said since the industrial revolution. Surely regular eating has been a thing since the first agricultural revolution, about 10,000 years ago? Not that modern. People were healthier during WW2 eating regularly but with fewer calories. I'm not convinced by this fasting stuff, has all the hall marks of pseudoscience and/or fad to me. I lost about 18kg by moderating my diet and exercising, with the knowledge that in reality exercise makes little difference for weight loss. Then I just hit a brick wall, no matter what I do I can't shift those few extra Kg to hit my target. CT, I found inital wight loss very easy but the more you lose, the more your metabolism slows, and the harder it is. I'm now happy enough with my weight but still just in the overweight part of the BMI scale, my target being to get into the normal zone (82 Kg for me). Worst thing is, even a single treat meal out will lead to weight gain it takes days or even weeks to reduce from. So now I am on a permanent diet of salads etc which I enjoy but often doesnt give me the energy I need, I really slump around 2pm. Better than being obese though.
  7. It's true. This poster is one of the more normal ones. Stated objective, not win the FA cup. Finish above the mags marra .
  8. As predicted the mackems are unbearable at the moment. Funny thing is, everybody on here and who I know in RL has said fair enough, they deserve it. I couldn't comment on their football as I don't watch them but they've done very well for a promoted team. However, according to Hoxton mackem..... I mean, I can never remember any of them saying we were lucky, opposing teams being shit, or outright bribery of officials, et fucking cetera, can you? Very next post, at least rob79FTM is honest.
  9. I really hope your Dad helps you out whilst you've still got him Craig. Rayvin, thats a difficult situation too. Myself, tbh when my Mum passes I'll be able to pay off my mortgage and be financially so better off. But she'll be dead. And I know from experience even thinking about this will wrack my future self with guilt. I'm going to give my kids as much as I can whilst I'm alive, can't take it with you.
  10. Just to echo what others have said, sorry you'vehad to go through this. I noticed your absence in the last few months. Sounds like you've got a great attitude though, please join us placing pins in the virtual voodoo doll of the skinny rat.
  11. I know a few people who sadly are waiting for their parents to die before they are financially stable. They're probably the lucky ones in a way. And when they inherit, repeat with their kids if they have them. Its a grossly immoral and inefficient way to conduct society.
  12. Thank you for the run down of local cafés and restaurants there TP. I was actually referring to English heritage sites I've been to this week. I honestly think everyone prefers to eat in if they can afford it, in October. Although admittedly EH don't do Eggs Benny anyway so the example is off. I'm glad you realise your state pension isnt a personal saving and that it's paid for out of current tax, because it's absolutely amazing how many older people don't know this. My guess is in the future, probably near future, you can forget about the triple lock, it will be completely scrapped or means tested. And it's against this backdrop that I just think some older people should be a bit less judgemental against younger people when they say "If only they didn't buy the latest mobile phone or buy a Costa every day they'd be able to afford a nice house like I did'. Truth is, everything is against kids nowadays financially. Need a degree or masters for an entry level professional job, which means £50k debt minimum. Highest taxes ever. Highest wage/property value ratio ever. Loss of loads of benefits, child benefuts locked and capped. Public services crumbling. Worse pensions to look forward to. And then to top it all, here comes AI for their jobs. You think all generations had it equally hard. I'm afraid I just cant agree.
  13. Point of order TP, this is simply not true any more for working people and hasn't been for 15 years, since austerity. It doesn't look like reversing in the future either. The only demographic that has improved their standard of living in this time is pensioners, and their benefits (the state pension being every bit of a benefit as any other) are paid for largely by working people. It's the main reason the country has a debt crisis. Pensioners enabled this though repeatedly voting for a conservative party who met their needs, redistributing wealth from working families to the retired (many of whom are asset rich and with private or public pensions the young will never get). And you see it anecdotally every day. For instance, this half term, every where I've been I've seen families eating home made sandwiches in the cold whilst the cafes are full of pensioners eating their Eggs Benedicts. This isn't a personal attack on you btw so don't take it that way. I'm just giving you economic facts. Our standard of living is not improving any more, that finished with your generation. Wealth inequality is the worst it's ever been. A large part of this is the existence of the super wealthy you've mentioned, but it's also true we have increasing generational inequalities that aren't sustainable.
  14. I'm really sorry Cat you have to pit uo with some of our less civilised posters from Wallsend. But.
  15. Just the way you talk on here, you'd be a great Dad imo. Tbh all you need NOT to be a shit Dad is love your kids above everything else. Have I said this before on here? Almost certainly. As a parent you can only be as happy as your most unhappy child. If you're a proud parent of incredibly success and happy kids, well, that's the pinnacle isn't it? But what happens when tha t isn't the case, when it's not in your control, where does that leave you? Parenthood is the extremes of life, the responsibility of another person's life. Not for everyone as TP indicated it used to be always expected. Better it isn't. But it's terrible some who want to undergo thus journey can't. And I don't believe it's out of selfishness.
  16. This is a devastatingly response, one I've tried to articulate, unsuccessfully, but full praise to Rayvin. Let's be clear, people are people, all born into different circumstances at no choice of their own. No say in parents, siblings, wealth, or generation. If we can at least make that assumption, can we at least try to think why things like a decreasing birth rate might be happening? People aren't different, external factors are. There is nothing wrong with younger people, they are not more selfish than older ones. Just, imo, less fortunate. You indicate you agree with this anyway, and if not, your/our generation caused it? From my perspective, we have to recognise things are not okay for younger people and this is a huge problem. I think TP we need to recognise that it's not fair what is happening to younger generations and then to address the causes best we can. Stop being so defensive about it. You're not being personally criticised, nobody is asking you to give up your own personal wealth or wellbeing. We just need to make things fairer for the younger generations, otherwise we're all fucked anyway. I'd also accept your life was difficult when you were younger. But you are definitely enjoying benefits now your/my kids won't. That's the bit I struggle to understand. Better not to argue this with anecdotes too, let the stats talk for themselves. Birth rates have declined in the UK and nearly every western country going. How do we reverse that?
  17. You think the rental market is the same now? Just sign up for a council house? Come on man. Edit: just noticed you said from your kids' generation. Thise kids would have had access to social housing. Not now.
  18. You're not alone Rayvin, I can only sympathise because my own situation is better, by chance rather than design. I honestly hope I never lose the ability to empathise.
  19. I don't agree. I'm happy enough to admit I existed in a relative goldilocks zone. Although my 2k mostly mortgage is killing me now since I went back to work in the public sector. My fault though. You've just admitted housing is still a problem, and speculated on causes of it. What the cause is here is not that relevant to the argument. The point remains, you can't confidently start a family without a roof over your head (without the Sun calling you scum).
  20. How is it? You can't start a family without a secure house to live in man. Housing is a massive issue you (and me) didn't have to deal with. The average house price is now £270k. After you've paid 10% deposit on that somehow, you're paying £1200 a month. Even on the NE, you're nit getting a lot for that in many areas too.
  21. Yeah, I heard it. From where I was, it was like a background noise, couldn't hear any specific sounds from individuals. But really widespread. Depressing as fuck, I thought we were better than that and also maybe the one bonus of the ticketing system might be to keep the neanderthals out. Seemingly not.
  22. At the match, reading through this thread now. PL sums it up perfectly, you bunch of fanny pads.
  23. Funny that. I work with loads of 20 and 30 somethings who say that. Ones that can hardly afford the rent on 2 professional salaries. Must be lying. What's this 12 months paid maternity leave bullshit you are talking about? Do you think thats the norm? Honestly, nobody can choose the generation they are born into, but I swear to God there's something exceptionally entitled and unempathetic about the Boomers.
