  1. You probably had a mild cold you massive fanny.
  2. Official patient's zero in the UK were diagnosed January 29th, 2020. They were from China. Whilst its possible, maybe quite likely, that people in the UK got it before then, they would have had to have been to China or the Alpine region, or at the very least been in close contact with someone who was. Simple maths shows that the prevalence of coronavirus was tiny in even late January. Yet the amount of people who think they got it then is pretty large. My wife is one, my Dad was another. They didn't, they had influenza (very similar symptoms) and are retrofitting their memories to suit (unconsciously). I'm still of the opinion this is endemic now and as immunity increases even more, the less the clinical effects will be. I don't think we'll see a more malignant variant either. I don't get China's response now though, locking down all of Shanghai. Simply not sustainable with omicron. It's been shit for us but we're in a better place than they are now.
  3. Says £1 (ONE POUND) doesn't it? Close to the "city" centre, and even closer to the university. Over-valued.
  4. Another thing is I am likely going to be in personal attendance the next 3 home games. WE DON'T LOSE when I go. My chakras and aura must simply boost the team and put fear in the opposition. Guaranteed.
  5. Exactly. You go first Rayvin, we'll, erm, defend the rear.
  6. Well I for one am surprised @Rayvin supports the chancellor and his tax evasion. I am expecting him to quickly come and apologise explain himself.
  7. Getting some coverage from Adrian Chiles on R5 right now. He's normally pretty good.
  8. We've had 2 shit halves of a game of football (second halves of Everton, Spurs). Seriously, that's it. People think I'm a pessimist. I don't think I am. I analyse things and say things as I see them, as free from bias as I can be. It's what I do for a living and I'm normally right, otherwise I'd be out of a job. If that's bad news, I don't sugar coat it. But in this objectively speaking, we are very unlikely to get relegated, it would take a weird turn of events. It's not impossible of course, but fuck me, it takes a strange mindset to be worried at this stage. CT I am sure is reverting to contrariness. Gloom I don't know, just seems to be completely incontinent.
  9. Very interesting. This really is not a good look for an austerity tax raising chancellor in unprecedented times of the worst cost of living crisis in living memory. Labour needs to get rough and capitalise on this.
  10. Do you only stop bedwetting when we're mathematically safe like? Fairly sure every team from 9th down aren't mathematically safe. You are in actual fact being a right fanny here.
  11. Aye, and Gateshead used to be in County Durham. That's why technically speaking the Sage is in Sunderland marra. And Gosforth used to be in Northumberland. That's why Sunderland is a bigger city than Newcastle marra.
  12. Even a draw tbh would have helped them on the way down. But looking at their fixture list, times as well as opponents, I think they're going down.
  13. I don't think you can get much more NUFC than coming from North Shields. You're right though, this is another weird thing about them, obsessing with where fans are from and who they should support. Then there's the strange obsession that attractions in Gateshead, literally metres away from Newcastle, have nothing to do with the city. Even the millennium bridge! They call Newcastle Airport "Ponteland" airport, even though its within the boundaries of the city. Oh, and now this strange belief they are inherently superior to us, which is bizarre. Thing is, cards on the table, like most people from the area I know and have known a lot of mackems. Honestly, many of them have been quite canny, really down to Earth. But on the flip side, some of them have been appalling people, just worse than anyone I've known from Tyneside. People of all classes and stations of life as well. I don't talk to mackems as a rule about football, full stop. But these wankers have literally started frothing at the mouth on their hatred of NUFC, completely unprovoked. Some have got violent with me if drink was involved. Embarrassing. So I dunno what my point is really. I guess I don't really want anything from Sunderland as a city, it's not a destination I'd ever go to unless the empire was showing something not at Newcastle. I am loving the respective positions of the clubs at the moment, and hope the gap increases every year. Because as tragic as it is for them, it's fucking hilarious for us. Oh, and remember when Bowie said "Good Evening Newcastle" at Roker Park? Then went on to perform a shit gig too.
  14. Got 3 consecutive home matches against fairly mid table teams. I'd like 3 or preferably 4 points from that to feel almost completely safe. Get nowt or 1 point then I'm probably getting worried again. Don't think that will happen and even if it does we've got other winnable games. I do fucking wish we'd beaten Everton though. Then the popcorn would truly be out.
  15. He's up there with the best of the cunts. An uber cunt. Contender for the king of cunts. Against a fuck ton of stiff opposition. I'd like to see him try and sue twitter. Even if it wasn't true, and it is, on what grounds? Its a private company, they can do what they want. How many times did CT have his avatar changed or whatever, did he sue ant? I'm sure Asprilla is frantically drawing up legal papers as we speak.
  16. He'd find a way. He's cut from the same cloth. A snide hypocritical arsehole.
  17. Okay, not unprecedented, in particular Iraq 2 comes to mind here, although if memory serves none of the permanent members actually directly opposed this war, might be wrong here. This is the only full scale invasion I can recall without UN backing. But there's never been a situation like this has there? The Russians causing deliberate civilian massacres and brazenly lying about it in New York, even blaming the Ukrainians. Also don't forget Russian atrocities in Georgia, Chechyna. and Syria. Forget about who takes the piss out of the UN more, let's reflect who takes the piss more on human life maybe. I just don't buy this insinuation of equivalence (but fully agree on Alex's points). So yeah, scrap the UN then, and lets effectively have no international consensus on military aggression? What then?
  18. I don't think this is true really (underlined bit). The UN has been quite successful in peacekeeping operations in smaller conflicts. Some more successful than others. There's the list below. Problem is one of the permanent members has gone rogue, its unprecedented, and nobody knows what to do or if anything is possible within the current framework. Yeah, we could scrap it but that strikes me as throwing the baby out with the bath water. And that is exactly what the authoritarian leaders want so they are free to establish their rule unchallenged in the future. All the international structures intended to keep peace and/or stability have been under attack in recent years by the usual suspects. I appreciate Zelinskiy's point about the UN being toothless but I'm not hearing what he wants to replace it. https://peacekeeping.un.org/en/list-of-past-peacekeeping-operations
  19. That can't be right. He's a low tax chancellor, he's told us. Shame about our estimated 5% GDP cut entirely due to Brexit, which was confirmed again recently. Still, it's only money.
  20. Irvine Welsh's response to this travesty of a tweet? "Get fucked you cunts".
  21. Prefer to avoid alcohol completely if I'm driving. I did have a pint on a family celebration a few weeks back but knew I had a 3 hour break before getting behind the wheel. That was unusual for me but really fancied a cold lager. I do worry.about driving the next day. Nowadays that's another thing I avoid, but I remember in the old days driving to work at Safeways for the 6am start, I must have been over the limit. Got away with it but now I see I was an idiot in retrospect.
