There were likely thousands of people at the airport so maybe 7 people were wearing tops, so what? Seems less likely only 2 kids had them on in all honesty. Also you see just as many deck chairs in Newcastle airport. Although admittedly I haven't gone counting running tallies. The whole thing is bizarre. From the same page. Why would you post this? Why would you think it was funny? Honestly, I don't get it.

Just why? Why on Earth would you post this gibberish?

Just listened to the Trump Musk interview there. Has Trump had a stroke?

This. Someone on OGWN made the point that most Americans just didn't want a repeat of the last elections, with both candidates even older now. The democrats have singularly broken free of these shackles. All they have to do now is look and act normal, which is easy enough, because they are fundamentally normal people. Walz also coined it calling Trump and Vance "Weird". It resonates because its obviously true. The more they get called weird, the weirder they will become. Honestly, I know there's a long way to go, but I don't see a way back fro Trump at this stage.

Cheers, will give that a go.

I enjoyed Oppenheimer. Just don't think it was a great. Saltburn was probably the last film I really enjoyed, but it was pretty predictable and not a classic either. Also, I watched it at home. We're 3 1/2 years in to this decade and seriously, what have we had? I think another thing is the format is a bit dead. With streaming, stories can often be told better in a series, and that makes more sense for the streaming platforms for advertising/enticing viewers. I'm not complaining about small screen productions, they've never been better. More that there's nothing in the cinema I care for.

I do struggle with this tbh. Is it just age? I mean, all the evidence kind of points that way. Not just films, but music as well. But then, I kind of think I can make an objective case as to films being worse. It really is a case of running out of ideas. I could evidence this by counting the number of sequels and remakes on a spreadsheet, but as CT says, how about no. I reckon most people on here would agree with me and Fish is just being wrong or contrary. As for music, well, in the days of manufactured boy and girl bands and talent shows, streaming, a mega tours, it's fair to say at least its changed. Not for the better imo. But even in music you see the same trends as in films. Bootleg bands literally imitating those that went before. This wasn't a thing until Bjorn Again in the early 90s, and just feels like there's only a finite amount of creativity which has been used.

Fucking hell man, a lot of the films are hardly recent are they? Interstellar, which I do not rate at all, a poor man's 2001: a Space Odyssey, is a FUCKING DECADE old. A lot of the others you list are similarly old. You've made my point. Post-covid, the film industry has been terrrible. The studios are devoid of any ideas and unwilling to take risks, so just stick to the tried and tested formulaes. CGI has made things worse. Last year the hype about Oppenheimer and Barbie was ridiculous. Both mediocre films at best. Yeah, yeah, as if anyone really gives a shit about McCarthyism nowadays. But let's pretend anyway. 🥱

Good God, just why? Films are fucking shit nowadays. Was looking through Prime with a five quid voucher and there was absolutely fuck all I fancied I hadn't already seen, and I don't watch many films nowadays. Eventually settled on Back to Black and yeah, it was fucking shit. Everything nowadays is some kind of sequel or remake, Twisters being an example. Or some bollocks Marvel film where the cast wear spandex. Hardly any original films and when there are, like Saltburn for instance, they tend to get hyped far beyond their actual merit, even if they're enjoyable. Where are the good horror films? When was the last decent Sci Fi film? Fantasy? FFS, when was the last decent war film or just good old crime drama? Has there even been a half decent Rom Com for the lasses in the last 5 years? Watched this one with George Clooney and Julia Roberts recently and the main jokes didn't even make sense. It's all broken now. Gone to shit. Hollywood has eaten itself. May as well read a book but WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME SOME FUCKER EVEN WROTE A GOOD BOOK? And don't even get me fucking started on video games. Some people say maybe it's just you and not the entire film business. To these people I say, fuck you. Rant suspended for now.

And then they realised they were buried 10km under the surface. Fuck, this may take a while.

Yeah, well, you should have seen what happened at my work when I mistakenly put a post intended for here into my work team chat. That reminds me, does anyone know any good employment solicitors?

It's a standard sample size tbh, if it has been done correctly it will be correct to within 3% error. However, clearly this was done in Norn Iron and looking at the colour scheme it's those fenians who have the racist views whilst the dignified and tolerant orange order will not accept this bigotry.

Say that again, I double dare you.

I can't be the only one that sees a post like this started by wykiki and thinks.....

Well, after your completely unnecessary Lindisfarne comments me and you have definitely fallen out now, ya cunt ya, what ever agreement we have on washing machines. After six years of research, a 300 page thesis, several academic papers and conference presentations, a viva lasting a whole day, I'm going to use "Dr" where appropriate, that is professionally. It's pretty much a requirement to have a doctorate in my field at my level do yeah, it is a proxy for seniority. Don't use it on my passport though etc. For reference, doctorates predate medics being called doctors. Why is it okay for doctors to call themselves Dr? Surgeons call themselves "Mr" out of inverse snobbery, as RR says. What do you think of professors? There's no big deal in substituting a single letter of your prefix. People listing their letter after their name is more strange to me. Your sincerely Dr Renton MB ChB (ord), BSc, (hons), MSc, PhD.

Apparently the classy mackems keep burgularing their own club shop. This response though, surely mag like behaviour.

Dr Gillian McKeith, or, to use her full name, Gillian McKeith. An absolute disgusting crank who is one of the ones responsible for anyi-scientific conspiracy theory thinking. These embryonic fruitcakes fucked over the Western World and were allowed to by a complicit and gullible media. Now they are out of control and in the US are part of mainstream politics. I remember she reckoned she could diagnose anyone's holistic health by looking at their poo. Jonathon Ross obliged on his show. She writhed about, saying how she could tell by the stench alone Ross was not a well man. He then promptly took his battered faeces out the tupperware box and ate it live on stage. It was a mashed up mars bar. The silly bint wasn't having it though and accused him of switching it. For some reason I can't find the video on youtube now. Found this from another forum to prove to myself I'm not misremembering. Makes you think.

You dirty, dirty, bassa. Btw, yes, Bristol is lush. Better weather than here too.

Now I know this is a euphemism but I'm a bit scared to think what of.

By coincidence I've just had an invitation to partake in a bowel screening programme by the NHS. I've got (very, very mild) ulcerative colitis which increases your cancer risk so will be doing it. Also got high BP. Well, more white coat hypertension, its okay when I'm relaxed at home but off the scale in the office. I think a BP device is a good investment though, as you just have to return a borrowed one and it will have been around loads of scratters arms. My cholesterol is shite too though so I'll probably be on a statin by the end of the year. I'm on a health drive but even if that lowers it, you can only reduce LDL-C by about 10 to 15% from lifestyle. Pop a statin and you get 40% reduction, could mean the difference between a heart attack and not. We're nearly all going to end up on them so I say start early to maximise the benefit. Oh, and then there's my gout. The joys of growing old.

Mate, I may only be an unemployed hospital porter, but you could have well cracked or chipped a bone in your ankle or foot. Soft tissue damage causes swelling but not usually to the extent you describe. Otoh, probably no treatment but PRICE anyway. Maybe invest in a moon boot. You'll get one free from the hospital or you can buy one for 50 quid, your choice. Oh, and ibuprofen the fuck out of it.

This lad is frogmarching away fans to drink in the "city" centre.

Honestly man, they are fucking mental. Newcastle is a fairly well known, even famous, hsopitality city frequently voted the most friendly city in the UK. Huge restaurant and pub scene over multiple areas, plenty hotels, good transport links. It's just geared up for it. I know I am inevitably biased but Sunderland just is not. Green text: it is fucking true. Yellow text: as evidenced by the underlying premise of this message. Perfectly friendly as long as you say what greyate marras we all are, and say it in the right places, otherwise...... WHy aye. Got all his Newcastle marras to leave work at Gosforth to come drinking in Sunderland, 20 years ago. Has "ftm" in his username.

Sounds broken, it's off for an X ray for you. My advice, avoid the large A&E departments like the plague, RVI especially. If you can get yourself down to Rake lane the queue is likely to be a lot shorter. Early moirning (before 9am) is the best time from my experience (mind, this is with kids, who get priority).

Hmmmm. I'll pass. ❌Camping. ❌Ex-footy hoolie hippy living in next door cottage brandishing an air rifle. ❌❌❌ Wales.
