Oh, I loved the Dead Pool films too. A bit of humour helps a lot. Also liked Kick Ass if that counts, and Sin City. For me, I think the films need to be standalone. Am I fucked spending my energies on trying to understand an alternate Universe with these silly characters.

Well, I want to resist getting into a discussion on this but iot is clearly a case of diminishing returns. Iirc nearly all the Marvel films are loss making nowadays so I expect the franchise will simply end. Thank God (imo). As for your last line, one of the few films in this genre I have liked at all was Joker. Thought that was superb actually, Phoenix was brilliant in it. I always prefer films from the baddy side or about anti-heroes.

Actually quite enjoyed episode 5 of the Acolyte, 30 minutes of light sabre fighting. House of Dragon series end episode dropped on Monday. Absolute shite man. They've set the scene for the coming battles and war but just ended it there. In 2 years time, when S3 is released, if I'm alive, I won't have a scooby who anyone is or what has happened. Again. Makes more sense just to wait a decade and watch the complete box sets of these series.

The areas of the country that have the biggest issues with immigration are more often than not the ones that have the least immigrants. Sunderland was 95% white English in the 2022 census. Its almost as if its not an issue with immigrant themselves but someone convincing the people of these places its immigrants to blame for their situation? I don't agree immigration has been handled poorly for decades. The UK has always had immigrants. When we joined the EU FoM worked very well in the main. the UK was probably one of the most diverse integrated societies in Europe. It wasn't an issue until rabble rousers like Farage made it an issue, and dragged the right wing of the tory party in with them. Sorry, but it's Brexit that has caused (legal) immigration of 700,000 per annum, many of whom are looking for permanent settlement. Brexit has also not helped illegal immigration. I can't get my head around it. The braying mob of women cheering it on. I know I shouldn't expect higher standards from the female sex but for some reason I do. I've heard that on Telegraph there are people trying to organise "Kristallnacht" across the UK on Wednesday night. These people are literal nazis and they are not few in number. I've never believed in national exceptionalism and always thought that under the right conditions, the UK is as susceptible to fascism every bit as much Germany or Italy in the 1930s. It is born out of ignorance, poverty and bad acotrs. We have a Labour government, we are not there yet. But these people need breaking with a sledge hammer and normal law-abiding people need to call out these scum and their acts of treachery wherever possible. Hopefully this will all blow over but the thing is, it will still be there, under the surface. Far right nationalism isn't a solid cancer tumour you can cut out. It is a systemicmalignancy infecting every part of our society. The tories embraced this and now I fear it is out of control. Hope I am wrong, places like this give me hope in ordinary people at least.
