Hoy man. Some of us are working. Stop talking in riddles.
-
I reckon ypu like it cos you don't have the mental capacity to understand complex plots or handle large casts. Like when you couldn't follow Game of Thrones because it had more than one location and multiple characters. The kitchen of a restaurant in Chicago is more your level.
-
Really? I'm five episodes in and literally NOTHING has happened. And the food doesn't even look that nice. Carmen is such a whiny bitch he can get fucked along with his cousin and the rest of his family. Sydney is okay but still boring. Oooh, an old lady who was the mother of a minor character has died, let's spend a whole episode on the funeral where for some unknown reason the entire cast of the restaurant has turned up. And why if its aspiring to be a Michelin star restaurant are they letting tramps serve the food? Really puts me off ever going to Chicago. Ffs I renewed my Disney subscription for this shite.

You've got a point like. Those swimmers - all of them - are completely flat chested. And then they're wearing some weird kind of Victorian swim suits. Haven't seen a single bikini. This is all fine and well but when's someone going to think about us?

How many fucking threads is that now about a made up subject? Definitely needed another one. Here's the front page for those not wanting to click. Ruined his holiday. Combating his emotional distress with an FTM beach towel.
-
I just refuse to think about it tbh. No matter who did it and for what reason, it's so horrific I'm not prepared to give it any space.

Get in. Won the 4x200m freestyle. Fucking stressful watching this.
-
Now hold on. Can I just clarify things here. That shirt was for afterwards wasn't it, or the honeymoon, it wasn't for the wedding itself?

I'm working with a lady called this at the moment. I wish she would fuck off and do cyber rather than HTA incompetently.

There's loads of horror stories from delivery drivers like. Honestly, before CT pipes up, taxiing might be a better option.....

I discussed it with the champagne enema guy once. It's possible and I do know some people who do this. But I just lack confidence and just cannot sell myself. But the main barrier is I'm part of a team and I need statistical and modelling support. I'm good, but not good enough to do everything! The clients are huge multi-national pharma companie like GSK and Roche, so doubt they would trust someone on his tod at home. I could probably support some "Dragon's Den" MedTech start ups but again, that's just not intellectually challenging and I'm back to square one. Anyway, seems ridiculous complaining considering the context of the thread. Probably less than 10 years retirement and then I have sweet, sweet death to look forward to.

That sounds incredibly similar to me. I am at a job now with a fucking terrible manager. I can basically do what the fuck I like, nothing if I want, which sounds great. But I just feel completely unproductive, achieving a fraction of what I did in the NHS. My experience is its the prviate sector who are work shy lazy, incompetent twats, not the public sector. Anyway, problem is I know I am very expensive, my rate is £2000 a day (not my salary unfortunately). I am nowhere near delivering this level of value to clients under my current management, in fact I struggle to see how I am making enough value to even cover my salary. As a result I am more or less in a constant flux of anxiety and guilt, especially as there has been extensive redundancies. I've been trying to get back into the NHS, willing to take a substantial pay cut for more work!, but I'm either facing blatant ageism or in my field at my level its just a closed shop. I address all the questions in the applications thoroughly, completely evidenced. I know I am better than the people there. I either just get the usual "Sorry you've been unsuccessful" shit back with no feedback , hear nothing at all, or get told its an internal post despite the fact its advertised externally. Ah well fuck it, I know it could be a lot worse. Can't wait to reture tbh.

Mmmmm, milquetoast.

And in 3 weeks Starmer has scrapped Rwanda with the view of completely changing the asylum system, given the publlic sector a pay rise, and settled the junior doctor's dispute. And been seen as an adult on the World stage. There's loads in the manifesto which will be enacted, in time.

Do you have the capacity to keep looking for other work whilst you're doing a job it sounds like you hate? Not ideal but my thinking is that it will keep the money coming in which will obviously help you financially and may help with anxiety? The right job will be out there I'm sure but looking for work when you're out of employment can be more difficult in my experience. Otherwise is there anyway you can become self employed? Any trade you could learn that uses your skills? Fwiw you come across as having a great skillset but perhaps never had the right opportunity to use it (without wanting to sound patronising). For instance, you're a fantastic and funny writer, could definitely have been a journalist imo. Not sure what jobs there are now to utilise this skillset now mind....

Blair didn't do anything drastic in his first term of office. It's like Gemmill says, you need to control the narrative. You need to highlight the tories have been hiding a blackhole in the budget and not let people forget this, like they did (falsely) to Labour. Do you really think ripping up the manifesto in the first month is a good idea? I mean, I thought we were all aware it was going to be pretty uninspiring stuff for a few years. Getting rid of the Stone Henge bypass and winter fuel payments for rich pensioners is fine by me anyway.

Manchester is the Venice of the North isn't it? I'll be surprised if you can tell the difference. 👍 Probably should get tested for covid, and take some more time off regardless.
-
Yep, i can certainly see the Sun, Mail, Telegraph, BBC, Sky etc getting on board with that message. Besides, you still need to make the correct spending in the right areas. Just not sure how feasible detailed plans would be in opposition because you need civil servants to work on this. Not to mention the Tories allegedly have been hiding the data. As Alex said, Reeves accepted the independent body recommendation pay rises for the public sector today. A real action that will make a real difference to millions of people, immediately. If it avoids strikes and helps retention, it will help nearly everyone. After 3 weeks governance. But people are twisting already? I mean I expected this, but not this soon.

Investment in the right infrastructure, I completely agree. What are the priorities? Probably renewable energy and the national grid I would think. Stuff that was actually in the manifesto but it's not happening overnight. Labour have scrapped Rwanda, the Bibby Stockholm, already. ECHR status protected, working on closer relations with the EU. It's going to take time.
-
There's that risk true. But also the fiscal constraints were a key part of the manifesto, so throwing it in the bin would provide a lot of ammo to the Tories, their press, but also could trigger Truss style market instability which might be quite counterproductive. This is not a reasonable time frame to make judgements.

Of those listed, Japan and Italy are economic basket cases, and the US is a super power controlling world currency, so not comparable. Germany have a much better debt/GDP ratio. France is comparable in some ways, but they have much, much better social provision and pensions for their money. They are heading into a demographic nightmare though sooner rather than later. Canada I dunno, they have huge resources we don't though. Point is you can't just look at one stat and draw conclusions. The UK economy is absolutely fucked and we're not even part of a trading block any more. We have more economically inactive people than any of those listed and worse productivity. Living standards have fallen more than all the others except the two outliers there, Italy and Japan. Maybe that's connected. I'm no macro economist, but I do know we are particularly vulnerable to market volatility owing to the perilous state of the economy. Truss proved this. Maybe it's as simple as introducing massive Keynsian type stimulus. If so why won't Reeves go for it do you think? I mean if it's that easy a win why wouldn't you? Anyway, she's announced the scrapping of one infrastructure project to my knowledge, the stone henge tunnel. Good, colossal waste of money that could be used better elsewhere. And she's scrapping non-means tested heating allowance for pensioners. Again, got no problem with that given their triple locked pensions. Going forward, I very much want to see large infrastructure projects that will actually boost productivity. First though things need to be stabilised. It's been 3 weeks ffs.

PL and Gemmill compare divorce notes.

Dunno like. The World will always need light bulb changers otherwise comedy will run dry.

Agreed. Murdoch will be dead or as good as by the time the tories are next in contention anyway, Dacre is fucking Dacre. In 8 years the amount of people reading printed press will be tiny. Social media though, an entirely new threat.
