  1. Give over man, the only thing that ties them to London is it being financially beneficial for them statying there. If Frankfurt becomes a better option, they'll gradually leave and go there.
  2. It's canny nice but I'm a bit fucking sick of IPAs
  3. And if future European legislation, over which we will have no influence, closes that loophole?
  4. You star. Top marks for anyone who gets that.

    Ronaldo...

There's more goals now though. I don't think the standard of defending is better in Serie A now than it was then. Look at that era - Nesta, Maldini, Costacurta, Baresi, Viechowod, Kohler, Ferrara, etc., etc.

    Ronaldo...

I watched that game live as it was on channel 4 on a Sunday afternoon. Came from an opposition corner. Best bit was the cool as fuck finish from the edge of the box. It was againt Vicenza or somebody like that. Vialli was class as well alongside Ravenelli at Juve.
  7. That 8 year old blended Scotch they do for about £13 is amazing for the money too. It's miles nicer than Bell's, Famous Grouse and all that lot (not saying a lot, I know). It's comparable with blends costing about £10 more. The gin's won loads of awards too, although I haven't tried the run of the mill stuff. I got a bottle of limited edition small batch one they did a couple of years back at Xmas and that was £10 for a half litre bottle and it was really nice.
  8. Well May's given cabinet jobs to loads of the promient Brexiteers (especially the ones who actually meant it) so both stories could be accurate

I don't think it's just being sentimental. You've missed out Romario and Van Basten. The latter was probably one of the top 10 players of the century. I think, especially in his heyday before injuries caught up with him, Christian Veiri was brilliant too. Imagine him alongside Ronaldo at Inter were it not for their injuries coinciding. I thought Hernan Crespo was a fantastic player at Parma as well. George Weah was another one. Serie A also had some great no. 10s back then too. You've mentioned Del Piero but, good as he was, he wasn't up there with Roberto Baggio. Beppe Signori too, not to mention Zola. How many good strikers did Newcastle have in the 90s as well: Shearer was genuinely world class at Blackburn and when he first arrived here. Sir Les, Asprilla, Andy Cole and Pedro too. I've probably missed a few as well
  10. If that's true about Hammond that sums up a lot of what is so shit about politics, i.e. willing to potentially wreak financial havoc just to win an election. Which is what got us here in the first place I suppose.

    About 1995-ish, was it?
  12. There was some great stuff at the recent wine festival Aldi had on. There's still some stock left at the one next to mine. Their wines are normally really nice anyway but they had a lot of less common stuff like a dry white made from Tokaji (normally makes a sweet, fortified wine from Hungary) and Gruner Veltliner from Austria. Think the nicest ones I got were a Tasmanian Gewürztraminer and a lush Syrah-Carignan blend from Chile. The most expensive one was about £8.99

Nesta was fucking brilliant back then as well. Basically reduced to trying to kick lumps out of him. He struggled to even get close enough to do that

    Ronaldo...

His performance as a whole in that match was ridiculous
  15. You see I had a bit of time for him at first but it's bollocks like this which makes me despair. Analysis on sites like Electoral Calculus suggest a General Election today would see Labour with even less seats and the Tories with a very comfortable majority of around 100 seats. I know you could argue he has to say things like that but I worrry he actually believes it He's got absolutely no chance.
  16. It's going to go down the Corbyn wins - war of attrition route

    Ronaldo...

Messi and C. Ronaldo both win it on longevity but, a bit like Tyson in the heavyweight boxing division, he was, literally, a phenomenom at his peak.

Yeah, imagine people commenting on stuff they have no knowledge of and haven't even seen
  19. Eh? How's that a revelation btw? It's been common knowledge for ages that she was diagnosed as a kid and took up the sport after doctor's advice.
  20. My mate used to love it. I can remember sitting round his doing buckets being bored to tears with it. On the back of that he rented a film starring Patrick Stewart called Dad Savage. It's meant to be a gritty modern day British take on a Western with Stewart playing this tulip grower who's into line dancing. Can't remember much more other than there being some murder(s). It's about as good as it sounds. Remember when you used to just go to the video shop and take pot luck with something you'd never really heard of?
  21. Me and Tooj were talking about going up to the Kielder Observatory one clear winter's night to see the Milky Way etc. (not a euphemism) as it's amazing what you can see once you get away from light pollution. Dweebs!!!! Used to go there quite a lot when I first learnt to drive and just look at the stars before the observatory was even there.
  22. Had a look and it was a Roman World based on Pompeii (seem to remember a malfunctioning Yul Bryner getting into that bit) and a one based on Medieval Europe as well as the Wild West. Incidentally, remember when the shit Star Trek (the one without Kirk, Spock and co.) basically became every episode with them in the Holodeck?
