  1. I've said previously, in a less pejorative sense, that he was a perfect fit for that club but he really is now.
  2. Well I was pretty shocked about this. It's absolutely the right decision, which is the reason I was shocked, i.e. the FA doing the right thing. Like Caesar's wife, the England manager should be above suspicion. He's shown almost unbelievable levels of greed, stupidity and a lack of judgement (although I suppose the greed shouldn't surprise me or anyone else). It's fantastic to see someone like him undone by his own folly and arrogance.
  3. They didn't make a purchase full stop/ end of
  4. It happens fairly regularly though, i.e. 'declaration bowling'. Used to be even more common when were more matches and they were all 3 day games.
  5. Yorkshire's only real chance of winning is for Middlesex to get their runs quite quickly and declare. It's an amazing climax. I wonder if it's ever happened before. It must be rare enough for both sides in the final match being crowned champions if they beat their closest rivals but even more so with a draw seeing a third team win.
  6. I suppose both sides might think that if you can't win you try and make sure you don't lose. I think the difference in prize money between 2nd and 3rd is quite a lot, especially to your average county player. I think if there's a result in this match the winner takes the title but the losers would end up third.
  7. The one where Spud shits the bed?
  8. I see Chris Rogers has retired after getting two centuries in his final match for Somerset. Not a bad way to leave the game. Looks like the Middlesex v Yorkshire match at Lord's could well be a draw too (although they'll obviously try and manufacture a result if they can) meaning Somerset could be on course for their first County Championship.
  9. That Nick Kielce Poland weirdo reckoned he was a great employer because of that bonus scheme. Remember him?
  10. There's definitely a tactical reason as opposed to his supreme powers of diplomacy.
  11. Just thinking - shouldn't it be "Football Gunt"? Anyhoo...
  12. I know there's little point in going over old ground (but I'm going to anyway) but arguably Keegan's greatest strength was spotting players who could do a job. So Mike Ashley took that responsibility away from him and handed it to Dennis Wise. Worst thing was that Wise didn't even last very long after that.
  13. Haddaway and shite. Cabaye? Nolan? Enrique? Ba? Coloccini?
  14. I think I have more contempt for Owen in retrospect. What a pair of arseholes though
  15. Which all suggests there's a bit more to it. I was thinking along similar lines re: them having plenty flair players. I think sammynb probably summed it up nicely. Also, it's not like things are black and white. You can ask a player to do a bit more defensively without asking him to just protect his fullback at all costs or whatever.
  16. Think my answer to that's covered in the post I made after the one you quoted tbh. Edit: I'd also add to that that he's started four out of their six league games so it's not like he's only been hoyed on in the last 10 minutes every week.
  17. Warp have repressed the first three Authechre LPs. @@Tooj and one or two others might be interested https://bleep.com/release/76372-autechre-autechre-repress-bundle?utm_source=Bleep&utm_campaign=6df80b882f-Autechre_Represses9_22_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_db8ca97389-6df80b882f-1298501
  18. Why should Brexit by so one-sided when it was a relatively close result? The argument that you have to give the 17m who voted for it exactly what they want and ignore the 16m or so who didn't makes no sense whatsoever. Especially when no one was told in advance what Brexit would actually mean.
