  1. The problem I have with all this surveillance is how it can potentially be used. There's a sort of drip, drip effect whereby stuff that was introduced for one reason ends up being used for something else entirely. There was a story some time ago about legislation that allowed surveillance that was intended as an anti-terror measurement being used for things far more trivial by local councils. Forgive me but I can't remember the exact details. Then you have things like speed cameras. Initially they were only to be used in places where it was all but impossible for a police officer to check the speeds of cars. Now, in many cases, they're basically a money making racket. You used to only normally get done for doing 10% over the speed limit +1 but now any breaking of the limit (by one mile per hour) can lead to something like a £100 fine. Seems a bit harsh. I do know someone who got done for doing 32 in 30 zone. Seems a bit disproportionate to get 3 pts on your licence and a fairly hefty fine for that. Anyway, I'm probably getting away from the point I was trying to make is that, if something like this is unchecked, then it could potentially be used to impose future laws which are draconian. I know it sounds a bit V for Vendetta but I do have genuine concerns. I wonder how high the terror threat really is. Is the impingement of civil liberties proportionate to that threat? I don't really know but the general unquestioning acceptance that it is troubles me. It mirrors a wider acceptance of the 'facts' as presented to us by (for want of a better word) the establishment.
  2. Didn't watch it but, for once, remembered to record the whole series. Looking forward to it.
  3. This reminds me of that bloke who was denied entry into the US after putting on FaceBook or Twitter or whatever that he was going to destroy America.
  4. Only to invite them back after the newly trained junior doctors fuck off to a country where they receive better pay and have better conditions.
  5. She looks like Edgar the cockroach off Men in Black.
  6. I was on the Moon last week and went to one of those Space Bars. The beer was canny but the place had no atmosphere.
  7. Looking set to become one of the top two female PMs in my lifetime
  8. Your patter fucking stinks. The grammar's a side issue.
  9. I'm deeply shocked at CT's take on this. I would imagine the same goes for everyone else.
  10. Just reminded me of a bloke I know. He was doing a two-day course at the hotel just off the A1 at Seaton Burn which included an overnight stay. Anyhow, at breakfast this bloke leans to him, looking at his discarded bacon rind and says "Here, mate, are you finished with your fat?"
  11. He's too stupid to realise what a hypocrite he is. Like talking to a brick wall, man
  12. Same here, even the bit about being old applies.
  13. Much like her husband's cock, I would imagine
  14. He's fudging it anyway. It would be different if he'd come out and said how sorry he was but he's far too macho for that. So he's in a weird sort of middle ground where he's asking for sympathy and claiming mental health issues are the reason he took cocaine when he should've been in training for a huge fight. And all without any hint of contrition for what he's done. I have some sympathy for him over his treatment by the press etc. in general but take some responsibility for fuck's sake.
  15. She didn't really, but effectively she sat on the fence for poitical gain, which is actually a lot worse
  16. I definitely think this has all come out now just because he's failed a drugs test.
  17. It's similar I suppose but it's even more down to who the media wants to win. Or rather more about who controls the media. I have issues with Corbyn but I don't think he's been given anything like a fair crack of the whip. If you look at the run up to the last election also, stuff like the defection of Douglas Carswell to UKIP, there was so little made of it it was untrue. That's not a comparison to the internal strife with the PLP but there was more made of Milliband's supposed inability to eat a bacon sandwich. Likewise Cameron sticking his cock in a dead pig's head. A week later it was like that story had never broken.
