Beamon’s jump, apart from adding more than half a metre to the world record was about 80 centimetres longer than Davies’ jump four years before. That’s absolutely insane. Ie 10% or thereabouts longer Beamon supposedly got close in training but never came near again in competition. But when you watch the footage he looks like he nearly jumps out the pit.

Don’t know the answer but assume the rights for players names are due to their registrations with associations. I think professional players are ultimately registered with FIFA in effect via the association of the country they play in. To make rules of international call ups, bans etc. the same. So the players would still feature in FIFA as before. Konami would just be the club’s official video game partner or whatever. Speaking of Konami, I used to love International Superstar Soccer on the N64
