Was it decided by AV?

Who does he think are the people responsible for Labour having as many seats as they’ve currently got after they managed to alienate so much of their traditional supporters last time round?
-
People like you give me hope for the future. You might not feel that way yourself but you’re idealistic in a good way and well informed. Young people like that are likely to make things change. It’s the ones obsessed with what Joey Essex is up to that are the problem tbh. Not that it’s exclusively young people like. Once you’re an old cunt like me you tend to get less upset about things outside your control for the sake of your own sanity, that’s all.

Strongly predicted to lose his seat to the Labour candidate apparently
-
Also, if you look at recent voter migration polling figures. Labour, as well as having a large net gain overall (compared to 2019), have a net gain of voters from the Lib Dems. Labour lose some voters to the Greens but that gain from 2019 Lib Dem voters more than outweighs this. Also I don’t see where the article is coming from. It’s fucking obvious Labour won’t gain as many seats if the poll lead narrows significantly but the article just talks about if that happens. There’s no reason to think it will. The polls haven’t budged much in ages. Obviously there are outliers within that but not in terms of general trends. Gaza, rightly or wrongly, will probably become less of an issue too. More importantly (from a GE result point of view) there’s absolutely nothing to suggest that things are going to improve for the government or the PM. Tories don’t even like the latter

That’s definitely cherry-picking by the Guardian imo. If you look at Electoral Calculus then the Bristol one is predicted to be (one of two seats) won by the Greens and Sheffield Hallam is looking likely to become a Lib Dem seat (it has been previously - it was Nick Clegg’s seat at one point). That’s part of the same MRP polling model they use (updated end of March) which also suggests it’s going to be a 266 Labour majority, even taking those two seats into account.

You usually get called by them from birth or thereabouts 👍🏻

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Alex replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
He’s as miserable as Lawrenson but he’s at least a bit more clued up / does his homework more than Owen. Which, admittedly, isn’t saying much. It is, after all, their very well remunerated job. -
He was just waving back at Ballard
-
That was a brilliant challenge in the same way his mate Ballard had a blinder when they played against us

Is it Wolf Jerky?

I bet adidas are fucking foaming

He’s another one who’ll lose his seat at the next election going off the current polls. He’ll probably just do fuck all until the election

One of his problems is he’s still the journalist he was at the journal. I.e. very sympathetic to whoever happens to be spoon feeding him info from within the club. I suspect he was matey with Dyer, he definitely was with Bruce and you’ve seen it more recently with him putting out the party line re: transfer budgets. Obviously gets him some exclusives but doesn’t do a lot for the credibility of someone writing for a national broadsheet

Leicester losing to Millwall though. Does anyone want to win the championship?

Southgate will spoil it for you

Wragg’s resigned the party whip

The last time they had a leader like that it inadvertently delivered a large majority to what has arguably been the most damaging and right wing government ever in the UK. Owen Jones et al got their wish last time and it was an unmitigated fucking disaster.

Don’t think it necessarily would be but could make the difference it the previously safe Tory seats they look set to take. Loads of those are still in the balance. No point in jeopardising that. Plus we know they are not held to the sane standards - see Corbyn. Then there’s the accusations of antisemitism scandal which large elements of the press would love to reignite. Purely from a tactical point of view it’s the right thing to do the way he’s playing it.

What Starmer needs to do is start fucking up the massive lead he’s got in polls with pointless gestures. All to appease a few people who won’t vote for him anyway 👍🏻

Think his mam was born in England. He blamed the racial quota system for not being able to get a break in South Africa. Because so few white cricketers play for the national team there (not). Fantastic player but you could probably sum his personality by his sending text to South African opponents criticising his captain Andrew Strauss in 2012. To make it worse Strauss was almost universally liked by teammates and was playing in his 100th (and what turned out to be his last) test match. That and being best mates with Piers Morgan
