Yeah I just spotted that I genuinely made a lot less spelling and grammatical mistakes before autocorrect. Makes you think

I love a happy ending

Having it both ways is his modus operandi tbh (see Brexit)

I think it was Gothenburg at the world championships where Edwards smashed the world triple jump record. Only to break it again about half an hour later. The pressure got to him at Atlanta and he ‘only’ won Olympic silver there the following year. He was so good he was still the best in the world 4 years later, winning at the Sydney Olympics. My uncle used to work for Gateshead council and would often use the gym at Gateshead Stadium. He bumped into Edwards there a lot. Apart from saying he was a genuinely lovely fella he also commented on how he could lift insane weights. Especially squats. More than all these blokes in there about twice his size. That’s part of the reason he was so good. Obviously he had great speed on the runway. He was technically brilliant too. The best description I can think of is someone saying most triple jumpers are like a bouncing ball but he was like a stone skimming over water. Maintaining the speed through all the stages. But his power to weight ratio too. He was slightly built compared to most triple jumpers

3 stars. Flawed but interesting

Hudson-Smith so unlucky there. Another incredible race as well. 5th fastest time ever and it sets you silver!

Don’t mock. Give him a year or three and he’ll be knocking on your door selling overpriced sponge scourers. Why are they always from Teesside btw?
-
Another factor which I think will be annoying him is that’s it looking less and less likely he will be able to relocate to an America with Trump as president. Which I think was one of his backup plans

You have to feel for dear old Nige. Walking that tightrope between avoiding serious prison time and appealing to racist fuckwits

There’s a lass I went to school with who is like that but it’s always missing persons. Almost without fail someone will reply to let her know they’ve been found safe and well. Several months earlier. And you can tell she doesn’t give a fuck (or more likely is actually disappointed they’re ok)

I didn’t twig. Although I remember reading an article about it a while back. Looks a bit like his dad too

That Latvian lass in the javelin btw

Even before the rioting a few on here predicted he’d be pig sick of being an MP before long. Due to the greater scrutiny it would bring to his views, his past, his financial dealings etc. He’s fine when he’s prepared about what he’s going to say but he gets very prickly the moment he’s challenged.

I don’t, however, think it’s too far fetched to suggest certain forces are primed to try and instigate this sort of thing when the opportunity arises. There’s some coordination but, as with everything, there isn’t sone overarching control. A lot of it is a chaotic chain of events. That doesn’t mean the usual suspects shouldn’t be held to account for fanning the flames of course. Particularly with how serious it’s become

Difficult to see how much different Kerr could’ve ran that because of the way Ingerbrigsen ran his race. It’s over in the metaphorical blink of an eye when it’s that fast. Tactics, to an extent, go out the window and its survival of the fittest in the last 10-15% of the race. Which is what you want in an Olympic final. Thought it was a fabulous race and Kerr did himself proud. It’s incredibly fucking difficult winning a medal in an event like that anyway and that was a mental final

One of my favourite players ever. An absolute genius

Surprised they’re not in for Clarke

One of the main reasons Baggio went to Juve was because, iirc, the stadium renovations for Italia 90 for Fiorentina which spiralled out of control. It’s basically like a national monument, so it was inconceivable they relocated. Florentine pride also meant it was inconceivable that the stadium wouldn’t host World Cup matches. To improve the capacity they lowered the pitch and removed the running track. Baggio was sold to help pay for it. They already hated Juve but it was a particularly bitter blow for the fans at the time. Especially as the team didn’t really get anything out of, as the money was already spent

Talk about handling of immigration. How about record levels of legal migration? A complete failure in tackling a refugee crisis, in no small part directly caused by a variety of policies and by Brexit. Underfunding all manner of public services to exacerbate the pressure on them. Then demonising the very people who aren’t to blame. 👍🏻

He’ll be windmilling fascists. Or turning out for Brazil in Paris

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

I thought Atletico Madrid were skint. -
I also think you make a very good and valid point about BBC and SKY news and their collective lack of investigative journalism. Coupled with just looking for the controversial angle. I honestly don’t think it’s that representative of the nation but it’s not a million miles away from parroting the vile stuff you see on social media.
